A simple fibroblast-based assay (SFA) was found to be efficient in evaluating the susceptibilities of clinical isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to pyrazinamide (PZA). Forty-five clinical isolates were examined. The MICs of PZA for susceptible strains in an SFA were between 3.13 and 12.5 g/ml, and the MICs of PZA for resistant strains were more than 100 g/ml.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
