This study aims to identify the necessary strategies for the development of a sustainable financial system. For this purpose, a novel approach could be provided for soft computing with Gaussian-based fuzzy DEMATEL approach to understand the significant levels and impact-relation degrees of these criteria. For robustness check, this evaluation has also been performed for triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy sets. There are many novelties of this study. Firstly, computer science has a significant role in the decision-making process. Another specificity is that the use of Gaussian numbers with fuzzy numbers is a new area. In addition, interval type-2 fuzzy (IT2F) sets also provide a significant advantage in decision-making under uncertainty. The results demonstrate that the size of the alternative financing, investment in efficient projects, and effective advertisement/promotions are the most important items to affect the performance of alternative banking system of emerging economies. Hence, it is recommended that the new banking applications should be applied by the state or the state can provide some incentives for foreign banks to invest in emerging economies, such as tax reduction. Another important point is that the financial intermediations should generate a component financial analysis team to examine the financial reports of the companies in detail so that the financial credibility of these companies can be evaluated more effectively.
This study aims to evaluate the significant risks in geothermal energy investments. For this purpose, a model is suggested by considering the Spherical fuzzy DEMATEL technique. With the help of the literature examination, eight important risks are identified for these projects. In the following step, their weights are calculated so that more significant risk issues can be understood.Another calculation is also performed by triangular fuzzy DEMATEL to check the consistency of the analysis results. The results of both Spherical and triangular fuzzy DEMATEL techniques are similar. The most essential risk issues are the same for both methods that demonstrate the validity of the findings. The results indicate that the risk of accidents because of incorrect designmaterial use has the greatest importance since it has the highest weight. Moreover, the risks of decreased water resources and pollution of them also play a significant role in this regard. Great attention should be paid to the quality of the material to be used in geothermal energy facilities. Otherwise, there is a risk of explosion and fire in the facility. These problems threaten the lives of many people. In this process, states also have very important duties. Some standards should be determined for the quality of the material used in these facilities. In addition, the compliance of the quality of these materials with the regulations should be checked with the routine inspections. This situation will minimize the risk of accidents due to using poor-quality materials.
This study aims to evaluate the effect of electricity production on industrial development and sustainable economic growth. In this context, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS), countries which have the highest increase in electricity production in the period of 2000-2018, are included in the scope of this study. Annual data of these variables in the period of 1991-2018 are used and three different models are created by using Vector Auto Regression (VAR) methodology. The findings state that electricity production in BRICS countries has a positive effect on both industrial production and sustainable economic growth. Hence, electricity production needs to be increased for them. For this purpose, it is important to encourage investors with tax advantages, location orientation and financing. Moreover, BRICS countries should give importance to renewable energy investments in order to increase electricity production. These issues have a contributing effect to sustainable economic growth.
The aim of this chapter is to evaluate the causality relationship between education level of the personnel and profitability of the banks. For this purpose, annual data of 15 Turkish deposit banks, between the years 2002 and 2016, is taken into the consideration. Additionally, Dumitrescu Hurlin panel causality analysis is used to achieve this objective. The findings show that education level of the personnel has a positive influence on the profitability of Turkish deposit banks. Hence, it can be said that Turkish banks should employ more personnel who are university graduate or have master or PhD degree. The main reason behind this issue is that these personnel can work more effectively with the qualification taken from the university. Another important point is that Turkish banks do not have to spend too much money to increase the training level of these personnel at the work because these personnel have taken these qualifications in their university life. Hence, it is recommended that these banks should follow their wages policies to attract the attention of educated candidates.
