A Reed-Solomon encoder/decoder is implemented using TMS32010, and tested by a laboratory set-up which is developed to simulate a coded communication system with additive Gaussian noise. Two encoder/ decoder schemes are utilized. Time domain encoding with errors-only hybrid domain decoding, and frequency domain encoding with frequency domain, errors-and-erasures decoding. The field of operations is specified as GFu~), and software is written for (15.k) RS codes, where k may be chosen among five possible values corresponding to error correction capabilities of, t=1,2,3,4 and 5.Two different encoding/decoding schemes are used. The achievable data rates vary between 16 Kb/s and 80 Kb/s, depending on the code and decoding algorithm.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
