Using the Delphi method in nursing research is becoming easier. With emerging technology, communication with geographically diverse experts may be easily and affordably achieved. With updated software, results can be interpreted almost immediately, and additional rounds of the Delphi occur in a timely manner, increasing participation and decreasing attrition rates. The Delphi method is a viable option for nurse researchers looking for expert opinion.
Background:
The faculty nursing shortage has been cited as a reason that qualified students are not admitted to nursing programs. Programs fill the faculty gap by relying on qualified, part-time faculty to teach clinical rotations. The purpose of this article was to review the evidence of what is needed for part-time clinical faculty as they assume the faculty role.
Method:
Using a systematic approach, 19 articles were included in this integrated review.
Results:
Themes identified included Mandatory/Structured Orientation, Mentoring, Support, and Communication/Connection. Issues of Pay and Compensation and the Transient Nature of Year-to-Year Contract Work were also themes found in this review.
Conclusion:
Clinical education is imperative to developing safe, competent new nurses. Identifying the needs of part-time clinical faculty hired to reduce the impact of the faculty shortage is needed for continued program stability and ensuring continuity of the nursing faculty workforce.

Background
There is a severe nursing shortage. Nurses are experiencing pressure, stress, and negative effects on their mental health from the ongoing pandemic. Understanding how their work engagement has been affected is essential.
Method
A descriptive, cross-sectional design was used. A survey plus the Fear of COVID-19 scale, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, and three open-ended questions were used.
Results
Participants (
n
= 107) were mostly female, had a bachelor degree or higher, worked full-time, had access to personal protective equipment, and followed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Receiving education about COVID-19 and feeling that the hospital provided adequate education were correlated with engagement scores. The type of education significantly correlated with engagement scores, with in-service education having the highest scores.
Conclusion
Understanding the needs of nurses during a pandemic is critical to engaging and retaining them. This study provides information that may be beneficial in future health crises.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
