O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi levantar informações sobre a pesquisa científica brasileira com o grupo da macrofauna de invertebrados bênticos. As buscas foram realizadas nas principais bases de dados de periódicos científicos online, como: Science Direct, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Scielo (Scientific Eletronic Library Online), Periódicos Capes e Google Scholar, levando em consideração os estudos realizados ao longo de 10 anos (2010 – 2020). Os manuscritos foram tabelados de acordo com as seguintes informações: região do estudo, ambiente em que o estudo foi realizado (dulcícola, marinho ou estuarino), filos de macroinvertebrados mais citado e o tipo de estudo realizado (taxonomia, descrição de um grupo, diversidade, entre outros). As regiões Sul e Sudeste são as que mais possuem trabalhos publicados. A Análise dos Componentes Principais (PCA) destacou que Arthropoda é o táxon que mais possui registro. Dos ambientes estudados o estuarino obteve maior quantidade de estudos sobre Arthropoda no Brasil. Nas pequisas analisadas verificou-se que predomina os estudos de distribuição, caracterização, diversidade, descrição e composição. O fato do status de conhecimento sobre os organismos bênticos estar concentrado na região Sul e Sudeste demonstram que há um deficit dos estudos da fauna bêntica nas demais regiões, demostrando a necessidade de se ampliar as linhas de pesquisas tendo em vista que a fauna bêntica possui grande distribuição por todos os estados brasileiros e são organismos importantes por apresentarem características significativas para a manutenção do meio aquático.
