Elastic scattering of 50 MeV m+ projectiles from targets of 'Li and ""C has been studied. Effects due to isotopic differences between targets are clearly visible in the data. The results are compared to three model descriptions for the cross section ratios for isotope pairs; in the case of ' C-"C a simple core-plus-valenceneutron model works well for "C if the core ("C) potential describes observed "C elastic scattering. Such a model does not work for the Li-Li ratio due to improper treatment of the scattering process and the quadrupole moments of the Li ground states.NUCLEAR REACTIONS Elastic scatteringof 50 MeV~+ from enriched~Li,~Li, C, and C. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
