Students spend most of the quality hours of the entire day in a school environment. Therefore, their safety and security are priorities of school administration and teachers to keep them secure from injuries and other health issues. Students mostly rely on teachers for their daily academic activities within a classroom environment. Therefore, it is essential to find out teachers’ perceptions and awareness about ergonomics risk factors and their practices to reduce these factors for the safety of the children within the classroom environment. A qualitative case study was conducted in a private school of Pakistan, to investigate teachers’ perceptions about school ergonomics and their practices which directly or indirectly influence school ergonomics. Five school teachers of primary class 3 were interviewed through a self-developed semi-structured interview protocol. The result indicated that ergonomics is highly valued in school education for students’ safety and health. Teachers introduce appropriate physical exercise in the classroom to keep children healthy and active during school hours and provide postural awareness for developing proper body posture. Counselling parents on ergonomics risk factors was suggested, along with ergonomically designed furniture in the classroom and the use of light material backpacks are also recommended.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which teacher efficacy is understood by the Defence Authority Institution's teachers and the extent teacher efficacy behaviors were practiced in the Defence Authority Institutions. A survey research design was chosen for this quantitative study, which focuses on teachers’ perceptions about teacher efficacy in Defence Authority Institutions schools. Data was collected through the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) which is a 24-item measure of three subscales: Efficacy in Student Engagement, Instructional Strategies, and Classroom Management developed by Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001), and it is also called the Ohio State Teacher Efficacy Scale (OSTES). This scale was used to collect data from the teachers of Defence Authority Institutions schools to examine their perceptions about teacher efficacy. Data were collected from 393 Defence Authority Institution's teachers. The survey consisted of two sections. Part 1 requested demographic data and Part 2 contained 24 items of the TSES (Long Form instrument). Eight findings emerged after analyzing the data. These findings indicated that the teachers had a strong understanding of teacher efficacy and practiced teacher efficacy behaviors associated with improving the teaching and learning process. However, the findings also illustrated that the Defence Authority Institutions needed to include teacher efficacy as part of a sustained professional development program. Recommendations were provided to facilitate the improvement and strengthening of teacher efficacy across the Defence Authority Institutions of Pakistan.
Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is denoted to additional efforts or out of context role played by employee(s) which is beyond one’s formal job description prescribed by the organization. OCB is not actually a written agreement or it may not be required from an ordinary worker, but this behavior has great importance and likely desired in the organizational settings. The behavioral difference amongst university teachers’ worth require professional growth so teacher ship cannot be isolated from the development. Quality enhancement is essential for the individuals who are related with teaching and learning environment. Here, to explore the effects of OCB on the OC explicitly in connection to higher education teaching faculty of Pakistan. It portrays the significance of OCB in the enhancement of efficiency of firm and furthermore to determine the influencing and generating factors of OC. This study comprehends the correlation of transformational leadership, T & D chances, work and life plans & empowerment activities with organizational commitment and to evaluate significance of OCB of teachers in the triumph of their respective institutions in Pakistan.
