Três relatos de viagem ao território indiano de Goa, de Guido Gozzano (Verso la cuna del mondo, 1917), Antonio Tabucchi (Notturno indiano, 1984) e José Eduardo Agualusa (Um estranho em Goa, 2000), narram essa viagem como uma busca de um sujeito misterioso. Eles fracassam com espanto, desembocam num jogo perspectivístico ou criam perplexidade com respeito ao indivíduo por fim achado. Sem relação intertextual no sentido mais restrito do termo, os três textos, cada um à sua maneira, fazem de Goa o cenário misterioso de uma busca que leva ao desconhecido e inexplicável, e fazem com que a velha cidade, pelas técnicas de narração, se torne um lugar de modernidade narrativa.
