IntroduçãoO envelhecimento populacional é um fenômeno de amplitude mundial caracterizado pelo aumento da expectativa de vida. A Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) estima que, em 2025, existirão aproximadamente, 1,2 bilhões de pessoas com idade superior a 60 anos 1 . O processo de envelhecimento predispõe o idoso às diversas alterações físicas/funcionais, entre elas, diminuição da força, da coordenação, do equilíbrio, da flexibilidade, da agilidade e da aptidão cardiorrespiratória. Como consequência, pode aumentar a predisposição às quedas, podendo ocasionar o aumento das lesões/fraturas 2 . Além disso, outro aspecto presente no envelhecimento é o aumento na incidência de transtornos de humor, mais especificamente, queixas de ansiedade e depressão 3,4 . Estudos mostram que a depressão é a doença mental mais comum entre os idosos, e está associada com aumento da morbidade, mortalidade prematura e com maior utilização
