RESUMOEste artigo apresenta o pensamento de resiliência e uma metodologia para avaliação desta que consiste em definir o sistema (pergunta-chave e limites do sistema no tempo e no espaço); olhando para a história (linha do tempo, fatores desencadeantes e interações entre escalas); especificando a resiliência "do que" e "contra que" (definição de atributos e variáveis); cenários (prováveis fatores desencadeantes futuros e possíveis regimes futuros desejáveis e indesejáveis); e desenvolvimento de considerações de gestão para promover cenários desejáveis. A avaliação de resiliência de três grandes grupos sociais do município de Cotriguaçu em Mato Grosso, Brasil -proprietários de terras médias e grandes, os povos indígenas Rikbaktsa e agricultores familiares -revelou que cada grupo social passou por várias iterações do ciclo adaptativo (crescimento-colapso-reorganização), e que a dinâmica desse sistema é em grande parte determinada por fatores econômicos e políticos que vêm de uma escala
Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão sobre duas experiênciasde formação de líderes para a gestão socioambiental colaborativana Amazônia como contribuição à geração de abordagens para ofortalecimento da pós-graduação na construção de caminhos para odesenvolvimento sustentável. As abordagens inter e transdisciplinaraplicadas foram adaptadas de programas de pós-graduação e formaçãode lideranças da Universidade da Flórida. Essa abordagem, ainda emconstrução, tem como objetivo integrar teorias e métodos de sistemassocioecológicos complexos com conceitos e experiências de gestãoparticipativa, bem como elementos da aprendizagem colaborativa eexperiencial na educação de adultos. As lições aprendidas apontam paraoportunidades e desafios na construção conjunta de conhecimentoentre academia e sociedade como paradigma inovador de educaçãopara a sustentabilidade na Amazônia, integrando perspectivas econhecimentos de diferentes atores sociais.

O objetivo deste estudo é entender a dinâmica do sistema de médias e grandes propriedades rurais em Cotriguaçu, Mato Grosso, e discutir sua resiliência como um sistema socioecológico complexo. Para isso, foi realizada uma análise do histórico do sistema focal, a caracterização de atributos, variáveis-chave e fatores desencadeantes, análise de sua panarquia envolvendo sistemas em outras escalas, e o desenvolvimento de cenários futuros. A metodologia envolveu levantamentos participativos, entrevistas e avaliação por especialistas. A conclusão e discussão final do estudo focaram na análise da resiliência do sistema e na aplicabilidade da ferramenta de avaliação da resiliência para pesquisa e gestão socioambiental na Amazônia. Entre outros aspectos, a discussão ressalta a importância do desenvolvimento de políticas públicas e gestão com foco em uma abordagem adaptativa e não em soluções que fatalmente serão temporárias e sujeitas a mudanças e problemas futuros.
A Amazônia brasileira compreende um conjunto único de paisagens e dinâmicas socioecológicas interdependentes, configuradas por uma diversidade de atores, ecossistemas, usos da terra e práticas de manejo de recursos naturais. No entanto, a sociedade brasileira e global vivencia um momento de alto risco em relação à sustentabilidade da mega biodiversidade das paisagens amazônicas. A transformação e degradação destes ambientes decorre do modelo de desenvolvimento adotado no país, em conjunto com o modelo político e fatores associados como mudanças climáticas, desmatamento, uso intensivo da terra para agropecuária, mineração, implementação de infraestrutura de forma inadequada, contaminação por agrotóxicos, entre outros. Estaremos à beira de um limiar (em inglês, “threshold”) de transformação dos sistemas socioecológicos amazônicos, para ambientes mais secos, menos diversos e mais vulneráveis ao fogo, inundações, insegurança alimentar etc.? Como estabelecer um processo de governança para a Amazônia, considerando e respeitando a sua socio-biodiversidade, neste cenário de transformação?
