Smartphones and gadgets are considered as one of the main factors in children's speech delays, especially those under three years. This delay is also accompanied by a child's social impairment like the symptoms of the autism spectrum. This article attempts to demonstrate the statistical correlation between smartphone usage and children's speech delay. Employing a mixed method design by combining statistical inference and qualitative descriptive methods with 70 respondents who were parents of children 1 - 5 years old in Indonesia, the researchers collected data using questionnaires and interviews and further thematically analyzed the responses. This article could show a negatively significant correlation between the duration of gadget use and speech habits, which means that the longer a child spends time playing with gadgets, the worse his/her early-stage language proficiency will be. Thus, it can be concluded that the excessive usage of gadgets has a detrimental impact on children's cognitive and verbal growth. In addition, the researcher found that children with autism spectrum attributes had a relationship with the duration of gadget usage. Further implications on parenting and language teaching are discussed to examine the novelty of the findings.

Before having consistent alphabetic writing system, Bahasa Indonesia had encountered several developments in orthographic enhancement. Bahasa Indonesia need to be enhanced for several reasons such as to create national identity and also to provide an ideal spelling system. Orthography system helps the language user to associate the symbol, sound, and meaning. For those reasons, the spelling system is important in written language since most of information and knowledge are preserved in written form. As time passes, there is almost no barrier in human interaction since the distance is narrowed by the technology. To use it efficiently, the language users utilize their language to be shorter but it is easier to understand. However, it creates discrepancy in the orthography system which hinders the interlocutor to get the actual meaning of the written language. This article reveals an issue about orthography system which is made by internet society in which has unusual alphabetic spelling system. The peculiarity is caused by psychological and social factor which revert the spelling model to be identical to children (immature speech). language such as English since most of modern technology has no equivalent translation in Bahasa Indonesia. For example, 'computer' which is translated in Bahasa Indonesia as 'komputer'. In addition, this is the evidence that technology may change the orthography system. The second factor is caused by dominant civilization in complex social structures and also policy maker. In colonialization era, Bahasa Indonesia employed Latin alphabet with 26 symbols. However, since Indonesia was colonized by Dutch, the spelling system was customized to be identical to the colonist language. Taeyoung (2016) confirmed that during colonial control of British and Dutch, Malay and Bahasa Indonesia spelling characteristics were invented based on orthographic systems which previously provided by European Linguist. For those reasons, the old spelling system was nearly similar to the Dutch. Vikør (1988) agreed that romanized spelling system (Ophuijsen's spelling system) which was implemented in Indonesia in 1901 was based on Dutch spelling. The third, another cause of the revision in the Bahasa Indonesia spelling system is to make the language more efficient and easy to use. Moreover, the spelling system should have a grapheme-phoneme correspondence principle which is the ideal form of an alphabetic spelling system.
The rapid dissemination of knowledge through information technology is facilitated by expanding access, but this development has drawbacks due to political interests. One of the media used to spread propaganda that promotes polarization is comics. The researcher analyzes how popular comics mix provocative discourses to influence their readers and what themes they adopt. Using critical discourse analysis, the researcher examines three main dimensions of propaganda discourse production, dissemination, and impact in comics. The data analyzed includes 1237 comic strips by Komikkita, of which 87% contain political propaganda, and 10.9% contain propaganda that targets followers of a particular religion. The study suggests that comic writers carry out the mission of a particular group through their media, indicating that discourse cannot be separated from the motives and values that the discourse architect wants to disseminate. This finding supports the elementary theory of discourse initiated by Van Dijk.
Games have evolved beyond entertainment and become captivating spectacles with interesting stories and visuals. While most prioritize visuals, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is popular in 2022 due to its combination of music and story, making it a phenomenal meme. Because of this phenomenon, the researcher wants to examine how music can enhance the story elements of a game. To get an answer to this phenomenon, the researcher operates Fairclough's critical discourse analysis to examine the seven-song lyrics contained in the game Metal Gear Rising into three dimensions of analysis: microstructure, mesostructure and macrostructure. The researcher found that the song's lyrics enrich the narrative elements of the MGSR series by utilizing six styles of language: symbolism, metaphor, hyperbole, rhetoric, personification, and tautology. This research can provide an initial report on the association between literature, aesthetics and music in popular culture.
