The study aims to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learnimg (PBL) learning model and the motivation to students critical thinking skills, as well as the interaction between learning models and the motivation to learn from students critical thinking skills. This study was conducted at SD Negeri 105390 in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The population in this study is a class V student of elementary school 105390 Island pictures numbering at 55 people. Sampling is carried out in total, i.e. V-A and V-B classes. The V-B class as an experimental class taught with a collaborative problem-based learning (PBL) model with the number of students 28 people. As for the control class is taught by a direct instruction model elected class V-A with the number of students as many as 27 people. This type of research includes research quasi experiments with 2x2 factorial design with analytical techniques variance (ANAVA) 2 lines. Based on the results of the analysis and research findings from the field obtained several conclusions that are answers to questions on the problem formulation, among them the critical thinking ability of students taught with a collaborative Problem-based learning model better than students taught with a direct learning model (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), a student's critical thinking ability of high motivation is better than a low-motivation student (sig. = 0.01 < 0.05), and there is interaction between the two learning models with a level of motivation in influencing students ' critical thinking ability (sig. = 0.02 < 0.05).
Collaborative learning is a learning model that guides students to gather ideas and data to solve common problems. In this study, collaborative learning was integrated with Exe-media on reaction rate and salt hydrolysis to improve prospective teacher generic science skills. Specifically, this study aims to investigate Exe-media effectiveness to improve prospective teacher generic science skill. This study employed methods of a quasi experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The subject of this research are prospective teachers of class Kim’B as experiment class and Kim’C as control class of Department of Chemistry Education, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science, Universitas Negeri Medan. Experiment class received treatment in form of learning used collaborative learning using Exe-media. Control class received treatment in form of learning used conventional model using power point as media. Data was collected through pretest and posttest results from prospective teacher in both classes. A t-test was used and it is found that level of significance is 0.002 (sig. < 0.05) proving that collaborative learning using Exe-media is effective to improve prospective teachers’ generic science skill.
The laboratory is a place to train students' skills in conducting demonstration, experimental and scientific development practices. The provision of complete laboratory tools and materials and good laboratory management will make learning chemistry run optimally, but some high schools still do not meet the standards of facilities and infrastructure in the laboratory. Therefore, the researcher tries to collect the problems and constraints in the implementation of the practicum and find alternative solutions to the problem solving based on literature review and expert opinion. This research is a qualitative study which is a case study research in several high schools in Medan. The instruments in this study were student questionnaire, teacher questionnaire, principal questionnaire and observation sheet using Likert scale analyzed using the percentage formula. the results of the analysis of case studies conducted in a number of high schools in Medan, it can be concluded that, the area of chemistry laboratories in several schools in Medan meets BSNP standards, but there are still science laboratories used for chemical laboratories. The results of the analysis of equipment and materials that support the implementation of the practicum after the presentation of X1 schools 76.36%, X2 schools 65.67% and X3 schools 87.27%.
The Purpose of this study was to investigate the goodness fit model of Eco Critical Thinking Skills (ECTS) and effectiveness Science Technology Ecocultural Society (STEcS) model in elementary school teacher education programs. Participants in this study were 229 students, taken from 3 universities. The data collection method was an open ended essay test and questioner. The research analysis the goodness fit model used was Lisrel 8 and effect size analysis. The results of the investigation indicated that the construct analysis on the instrument model was categorized as a good fit model category with P-value 0.28 ( 0.05), RMSEA 0.02 (0.08) and other indicators of fit model were above 0.90. Analysis of the effect size based on Cohen's d criteria of 1.391 ( 0.08) is classified as very high criteria. This research concluded that instrument is good fit, Interpretation dimension is highest support. STEcS model is effective to enhance Eco Critical Thinking Skills at elementary school teacher education program. The research implication is Eco Critical Thinking Skills of students can be improved through the application of the STEcS model. The STEcS model is an alternative model for preparing 21st century learning.
Abstrak: Penelitian praktikum multimedia tentang pemodelan alotrop karbon fulerena telah dilakukan untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi pada ikatan kimia. Mahasiswa sebagai sampel membuat tiga bola kertas C 60 , C 70 dan C 80 sesuai map geometri heksagonal menurut prosedur yang telah disediakan. Selanjutnya mahasiswa diminta menentukan jumlah dan posisi atom karbon relatif terhadap lingkar pentagonheksagon pengeliling, jenis dan jumlah ikatan tunggal-rangkap, pada ketiga bola-kertas yang dibuatnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dari rerata skor 33,00 (pretes) menjadi 87,00 (postes) dengan rerata gain (capaian) ternormalisasi 0,80 (kategori tinggi). Selain itu persepsi mahasiswa atas kegiatan ini juga termasuk kategori tinggi (~92%).Kata Kunci: fullerena, multimedia, miskonsepsi THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MULTIMEDIA PRACTICAL OF CHEMISTRY BOUND IN IMPROVING CHEMISTRY STUDENTS' LEARNING ACHIEVEMENTAbstract: The study of the multimedia practical in creating carbon allotrope of fullerenes was conducted for overcoming misconception in chemical bond. The students as samples were asked to prepare individually three "paper-balls" of C 60 , C 70 and C 80 from the corresponding structural-hexagon maps given to them along with the procedures. They were then asked to calculate the number of carbon atoms and identify the position of them relative to the pentagonal-hexagonal rings, identify the type of single-double covalent bonds and calculate the number of them. The findings showed that there was a significant increase in the average learning achievement from 33.00 (pre-test) to 87.00 (post-test) with the normalized gain score average of 0.80 (in the high category). Moreover, the students' perceptions toward this activity belonged to the high category (~92%). Untuk dapat menjadikan kemampuan generik mahasiswa, miskonsepsi mahasiswa dalam ilmu kimia yang mendasar seperti struktur atom dan ikatan kimia harus dijaring dan diluruskan sehingga pada gilirannya akan meningkatkan prestasi. Namun demikian, perlu disadari bahwa untuk menanamkan konsep yang benar pada kedua pokok bahasan tersebut tidak dapat diterapkan dalam praktikum dengan alat dan bahan kimia di laboratorium. Oleh karena itu, melalui penelitian ini akan dirancang praktikum multimedia tanpa bahan kimia terkait dengan ikatan kimia yang karakteristik kontennya tergolong abstrak.Dengan pemahaman yang kokoh serta kemampuan knowledge space (pemahaman geometri ruang) yang tinggi, mahasiswa akan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan generik kimianya baik dalam aspek konsistensi logis, logika inferensial maupun pengamatan tak langsung.
