The psyllid Diaphorina citri Kuwayama is one of the most important pests of citrus, mainly because it is the vector of the bacterium that causes huanglongbing (HLB) or 'Greening' disease. To study the spatial distribution of nymphs and adults of this pest, an experiment was carried out in two 'Valencia' sweet orange orchards, four and 12 years of age, established in Matão, central area of São Paulo state, Brazil. The following dispersion indices were used to study pest aggregation in the citrus plants: variance/mean relationship (I), index of Morisita (I δ ), coefficient of Green (Cx), the k exponent of negative binomial distribution, common k (k c ) and Taylor's Power Law for each sampling. The negative binomial distribution was more representative of the spatial distribution of this psyllid, for both nymphs and adults. For most samplings, psyllid nymphs found in branches and adults caught in traps had an aggregated distribution.
Palavras-chave: Phaseolus vulgaris, matéria seca, nutrientes, sintomas visuaisNutritrional disorder in bean crop as related to macronutrients, boron and zinc AB S TR ACTThis study was carried out in aerated nutritive solution under greenhouse conditions, in Jaboticabal, São Paulo State (21 o 15' 22'' South and 48 o 18' 58'' West) aiming to evaluate the effect of the omission of macronutrients, boron and zinc on plant growth, production of dry matter, visual symptoms and nutritional status in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). The experiment was arranged in completely randomized design with nine treatments corresponding to the complete solution (control) and individual omission of N, P, K, Ca, S, Mg, B and Zn, with two replications. After thirty days of treatments, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, leaf dry matter and leaf levels of macro and micronutrients were measured. The individual omissions of N, P, K and Ca were more limiting to plant growth variables and production of dry matter and resulted in morphological alterations observed by the intrinsical visual symptoms of each element. The individual omission of the nutrients Mg, B and Zn in the nutrient solution were not limiting to plant growth up to 30 days of cultivation.
Nitrogen fertilization at establishment and development of star fruit orchardAbstract -The objective of this work was to study the effect of nitrogen fertilization at establishment and development of star fruit (Averrhoa carambola L.), cv. B-10, orchads and the acidification of Eutrustox soil. The experiment design was in randomized blocks, comprising five treatments corresponding to different nitrogen (urea) rates, with four replications. At the plant establishment, N rates were zero, 30, 60, 90 and 120 g plant -1 of N and, at the 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd years of experimentation, two fold, three fold and four fold of initial rate. Nitrogen fertilizer on star fruit at establishment, after the second year of experiment, result in significant pH reduction which increase potential acidity and decrease potassium, calcium and magnesium concentrations, as well as the sum of bases and base saturation of soil. Star fruit without nitrogen fertilization show lower foliar N concentration, in relation to those which received fertilizer, and until the third year of experimentation did not flower. In the third year of experimentation, rates between 110 and 180 g plant -1 of N promote the best development to star fruit at orchard establishment, foliar N concentration, index SPAD as well as the best fruit production.Index terms: Averrhoa carambola, nitrogen fertilizers, nutritional state, fruit production.
