A pratica da atividade física contribui de forma positiva na vida dos adolescentes e a ausência desta prática interfere diretamente na qualidade de vida. Os adolescentes estudantes que são classificados como fisicamente ativos ainda são muito baixos, e diversos aspectos podem influenciar e se tornarem barreiras para essa pratica. O objetivo do estudo foi identificar os fatores limitantes para a pratica da atividade física em escolares da cidade de Juazeiro do Norte- CE. Esta pesquisa caracteriza-se como um estudo de campo, descritivo, de corte transversal, com uma amostra de 309 escolares. Foi utilizado o instrumento proposto por Martins & Petroski que a motivação para prática da atividade física. Para a análises dos dados foram utilizados instrumentos como do software JASP na versão 0.9.0.1, através de estatística descritiva por distribuição de frequência, também foi utilizado o teste do Qui-quadrado (p<0,05). Os resultados apostam os seguintes fatores como mais frequentes: falta de companhia para a pratica da atividade física (57,3%), o volume de outras tarefas para fazer (53,1%) e a preferência por fazer outras atividades ao invés de praticar atividade física (48,2%). Os resultados também mostram 45,6% dos escolares não se sentem motivados para a pratica da atividade física, como também 44,3% não possuem tempo para esta pratica. Pode-se concluir que de uma forma geral o fator que mais influencia os escolares na pratica da atividade física é a falta de companhia, por outro lado fica evidente que as meninas apresentam um número maior de fatores em relação aos meninos, e o fator que mais acomete o público feminino é a preguiça.
