The daily life of a São Paulo city samba school: the Vai-Vai case" The work purpose is to analyze the carnival cycle production process of the "Recreational and Cultural Society Vai-Vai Samba School". Association formed for the most part by the black people, situated in Bexiga district, nearly the central area in São Paulo city. The association daily routine was retraced through the ethnography mainly activities description, arranged by the samba dancers: essays, parties and "samba plot" competitions. During the work, the Vai-Vai revealed itself as being a sociability space, and its main purpose is the black culture valorization, in the face of the global society. The association history related to the carnival officialization process as conquest of "dominant class", provided that making use of "intelligent resistance" strategies, the black people succeed in enlarging their cultural demonstration dimension.
