The present case includes the study of a 5 year old girl who was raped by a stranger for three hours. The study was carried out in Artemis Hospital. Through observation during initial sessions, it was gauged that the child could not express her grief verbally. Thus, the Art and Play Therapy was used, through which her exact mental state and what she had gone through was efficiently understood; helping to take appropriate measures for dealing with post-trauma of the victim.
The aim of this paper is to find out whether the social networking sites are a boon or bane for the youth of India. The importance of Social Networking Sites (SNS) in people’s life is increasing each day. Social Networking Sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, Orkut etc. though have a number of positives for the individuals using it, such as job opportunities, easy connect with people, education etc., it posses some prominent and undeniable dangers to its users as well. Some of the common negatives include, low self-esteem, distraction from studies or work, cybercrime, cyber bullying etc. Thus, in this paper we focused on some of the potential positives and negatives of social networking sites on Indian youth as well as on the the ethical responsibilities of the users of these websites.
Invulnerability is a process involving development of the capacity to confront, withstand, overcome and benefit from the psychologically critical /deleterious life situations such as deprivation/ disadvantages, stresses, frustration, conflicts and crisis. From time immemorial, human kind seems to have learned to develop a sort of ambivalence towards such critical situations/conditions or adversities and the pain and suffering associated with these. Operationally invulnerability may be defined as competence amidst disadvantages.
Objective: The prime intent of this study was to determine the adverse effect of social media addiction on adolescent’s life effectiveness, studying in grade 8th to 12th in Delhi NCR, India.
Materials and Methods: The psychometric properties of the Bergen social media Addiction Scale and Life Effectiveness Questionnaire by James Neill were evaluated, additionally examining the factor structure utilizing the Partial least squares-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) amongst n = 968 adolescents. The hypothesized inverse relationship between the two scales is tested using the person correlation examination.
Results: Adolescence’s life effectiveness, dimensions of time management, self-confidence, emotional control, and achievement motivation were significantly adversely (negatively) related to Facebook Addiction.
Implications: The over-use of social media will trigger failure in education and social relationships, health and well-being concerns, provoking life disruption. The reasonable usage of online media requires ethos, attention, and awareness on how to utilize them effectively. We can propel students by bringing issues to light.
