RESUMOA Síndrome do Dente Gretado (SDG) é um cenário comumente vivenciado na realidade odontológica, sendo um obstáculo para um correto diagnóstico e tratamento, podendo estar relacionada a diversos tipos de parafunções orais diurnas que podem afetar o sistema estomatognático, tal como o bruxismo em vigília, que é uma atividade muscular mastigatória repetitiva definida por apertar ou ranger os dentes e/ou por paralisação ou projeção da mandíbula de forma involuntária. O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar através de uma Revisão Integrativa de Literatura a correlação entre a SDG e pacientes com bruxismo de vigília, com ênfase em sua etiologia, diagnóstico e tratamento. A pesquisa buscou solucionar a seguinte pergunta norteadora: "qual a relação entre a SDG e pacientes portadores do bruxismo de vigília?". A busca ocorreu por meio da associação de descritores em português e inglês (DeCS e MeSH), utilizando a lógica booleana no campo de busca nas plataformas BVS, PubMed e Cochrane Library. Os critérios de inclusão foram: artigos científicos publicados entre os anos de 2017-2021, com disponibilidade de texto completo, nos idiomas português e inglês, que auxiliassem na resolução da questão norteadora. Como critério de exclusão, foram definidos os distintos a temática ou que não responderam à pergunta norteadora. Obteve-se como amostra total 18 estudos, que revelaram que a SDG é relatada na maioria dos pacientes portadores de bruxismo de vigília, pois o bruxismo é um fator desencadeante para o aumento excessivo de tensão e força sob o esmalte dentário, levando respectivamente a trincas e gretas.
A dor orofacial está comumente associada a desarranjos musculares, que provocam desconforto de maneira localizada e impactam negativamente na qualidade de vida dos indivíduos afetados. As toxinas botulínicas podem ser consideradas alternativas terapêuticas para a disfunção. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar por meio da literatura o potencial terapêutico da toxina botulínica no controle da dor orofacial. Tratou-se método de revisão integrativa da literatura, utilizando da abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa, através de buscas realizadas pelas plataformas LILACS, SCIELO e PUBMED. "Transtornos da Articulação Temporomandibular", "Toxinas Botulínicas", "Tratamento Farmacológico", "Toxinas Botulínicas Tipo A" e "Dor Facial" foram os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS) selecionados. Estudos relatam que situações clínicas envolvendo Disfunção Temporomandilar, neuralgia do trigêmeo, dores de cabeça, hipertrofias e espasmos musculares não apresentaram resposta ao tratamento conservador, todavia houve resultados positivos após administração da Toxina Botulínica tipo A. Seu uso pode reduzir a sintomatologia dolorosa em decorrência de melhoria no fluxo sanguíneo e diminuição das contrações musculares. Embora grande parte das pesquisas discorra acerca de resultados positivos, a injeção em longo prazo, entretanto, pode ocasionar possíveis impactos aos pacientes e deve ser alvo de mais análises.
