O estudo ora conduzido tem como objetivo evidenciar os efeitos da terapia com ozônio como um tratamento integrativo e complementar não cirúrgico para doenças periodontais. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, na qual foram feitas buscas nas bases de dados Medline, Lilacs, EBSCOHost e Cochrane, utilizando os descritores “ozone”, “ozone therapy” e “periodontal disease” publicados entre 2011 e 2021, sendo eleitos 20 artigos para compor o estudo. O ozônio é um gás formado por três átomos de oxigênio e, devido à sua instabilidade, é considerado um dos maiores agentes oxidantes do mundo, o que permite que este gás seja usado para diversos fins terapêuticos. Esta substância possui importantes efeitos antimicrobianos contra bactérias gram-negativas, que desempenham um forte papel na etiologia das doenças periodontais. Somando-se, ainda, possui um amplo espectro de atividade, mas com baixa toxicidade e não causa resistência bacteriana. A ozonioterapia mostra-se como um eficiente tratamento integrativo e complementar à raspagem e alisamento radicular, que por vezes pode ser insuficiente no tratamento das doenças periodontais. Contudo, novos estudos devem ser realizados para avaliar e determinar os parâmetros clínicos do ozônio.
A odontologia obteve avanços significativos na reabilitação oral de pacientes edêntulos através das próteses dentárias, sejam elas totais ou unitárias. Os implantes dentários surgem com o objetivo de promover uma restituição oral funcional, estética e com boa durabilidade. Em casos de atrofia óssea os implantes curtos se tornam os precursores para a reabilitação oral menos invasiva se comparada à enxertia óssea, comumente utilizada como subsídio para os implantes convencionais.
Objetivo: revisar a literatura e relatar um caso clínico acerca da efetividade da reabilitação oral protética, utilizando material vitrocerâmico dissilicato de lítio IPS E.max Press e IPS E.max CAD, através de planejamento com Digital Design Smile (DSD) e confecção pelo sistema CAD/CAM. Revisão de literatura e Relato de caso: A vitrocerâmica é um material que se assemelha às características do tecido dental e possui as melhores propriedades ópticas entre os materiais protéticos. O DSD possibilita o planejamento para um melhor resultado estético do ponto de vista facial, pois permite um fluxo de trabalho completo, representando um recurso para auxílio no diagnóstico, plano de tratamento e na comunicação com o paciente e técnico laboratorial. Foi selecionado um paciente com extensas restaurações em resina composta com estética insatisfatória nos dentes anteriores. A partir do escaneamento da boca do paciente, realizou-se o protocolo DSD e com auxílio de um sorriso doador, foi possível determinar o formato e textura das novas restaurações em cerâmica confeccionadas com IPS E. max CAD. Considerações finais: A vitrocerâmica dissilicato de lítio apresenta potencial reabilitador minimamente invasivo, além de apresentar excelentes requisitos estéticos. O caso clínico desse estudo demonstrou a previsibilidade que pode ser alcançada com o protocolo DSD, além disso, com a fabricação CAD/CAM, as restaurações impostas como modelo para o paciente seguiram o plano estético inicial.
O enxerto ósseo autógeno tem sido o mais utilizado na odontologia, no entanto, sua disponibilidade limitada, defeito da área doadora, morbidade e desconforto do paciente, têm dificultado seu uso. Essas deficiências levaram à descoberta de uma nova fonte de enxerto ósseo autógeno processado de dentes humanos. Objetiva-se avaliar a eficácia de enxertos de dentina extraída de dentes humanos para a neoformação óssea. O estudo trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, na qual foram feitas buscas nas plataformas PubMed e EBSCOhost, sendo eleitos nove artigos. O uso da matriz dentinária desmineralizada (MDD) do dente extraído do próprio paciente, se assemelha ao osso alveolar em estruturas químicas e nas fases orgânica e proteica. A matriz dentinária é utilizada como material para enxertia óssea onde promove o processo de regeneração óssea, incluindo preservação de alvéolo de extração, aumento de crista, enxerto ósseo sinusal e regeneração óssea guiada. Além disso, possui capacidade de osteoindução, osteocondução e substituição progressiva. A MDD apresenta intra e extra-porosidade, que aumentam o suprimento sanguíneo e favorecem a lenta reabsorção do material enxertado, o que auxiliará na cicatrização. Deste modo, esse biomaterial possui vantagens como baixa morbidade, fácil manuseio, ausência de antigenicidade e alta capacidade de remodelação do osso, apresentando segurança e eficácia para enxertia óssea.
