A máscara laríngea (ML) é um dispositivo supra-glótico que tem seu uso indicado em situações de manejo de vias aéreas difíceis, mas que atualmente é mais usada em procedimentos cirúrgicos pelos médicos anestesistas; no entanto seu uso também pode se dar através do profissional enfermeiro(a) devidamente capacitado, o qual está regulamentado pela Resolução do COFEN Nº 641/2020. O uso da máscara laríngea pelo enfermeiro ainda é pouco vivenciado nos atendimentos pré e intra hospitalar, porém vem aumentando nos últimos anos. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo central identificar os conhecimentos dos enfermeiros(as) sobre a legislação, capacitações, indicações e contraindicações sobre o uso da máscara laríngea em situações de emergência no serviço intra hospitalar. Foi aplicado um questionário de perguntas e respostas relacionado ao conhecimento sobre a legislação vigente que regulamenta o uso da máscara laríngea pelo enfermeiro(a), em quais situações é indicado e contraindicado e se o profissional possui ou não capacitação para tal. Esta pesquisa foi realizada com 10 (dez) enfermeiros(as) que atuam no serviço há mais de um ano e que não estiveram afastados durante este período. Durante a análise dos dados observou-se que a maioria dos profissionais não possuíam capacitação para o uso da ML, poucos conheciam sobre a legislação, mas a grande maioria soube descrever situações nas quais estaria indicado seu uso e algumas contraindicações. Concluímos que o profissional enfermeiro ainda está muito limitado à atuação médica, sendo de fundamental importância a busca por capacitação e assim aumentando sua autonomia e consequentemente proporcionando uma qualidade de atendimento ainda maior ao paciente.
