The effect of community mental health nursing training on the self efficacy and skills of the mental health cadresPurposeThis study aimed to know the effect of community mental health nursing training to self efficacy and skills of mental health cadres in early detection of severe mental illness symptoms in Banyuroto village, Nanggulan district, Kulon Progo. MethodsThis research was a quasi-experimental study using pre-post tests with control group. The treatment group were 32 health cadres who were given community mental health nursing training and the control group were 33 cadres who were not given community mental health nursing. ResultsBased on the pre-post tests, it was shown that there was a significant effect on the self efficacy and skills enhancement. ConclusionThere was an effect of community mental health nursing training using lectures, demonstrations, and role play methods on the self efficacy enhancement and skills of the mental health cadres in performing severe mental illness symptom early detection (psychosis).
Background: A convicted criminal may experience loss of access to life facility, independency, and social relationships, which may lead to stress. One of stress symptom is self adjustment. Self adjustment is very much needed to get through prison life.Objective: To identify the correlation between self adjustment and stress in female prisoners at Class II B Female Prison in Yogyakarta.Method: This was correlational and analytical research with a cross-sectional design. Sample was taken using a consecutive sampling technique among 67 female prisoners at Class II B Female Prison in Yogyakarta during December 2017. Data was analysed using Pearson’s correlation test.Result: There were 50,7% female prisoners who had positive self adjustment, while the rest (49,3%) had negative self adjustment. The majority (80,6%) of female prisoners endured low level stress. Statistical test found a negative correlation between self adjustment and stress (r= -0,574; p value= 0,000).Conclusion: There is a negative correlation between self adjustment and stress in female prisoners at Class II B Female Prison in Yogyakarta.ABSTRAKLatar belakang: Seseorang yang masuk ke dalam lembaga pemasyarakatan dan mengalami perubahan status menjadi seorang narapidana, dapat mengalami kehilangan fasilitas, kontrol hidup, dan hubungan sosial yang berujung pada terjadinya stres. Seseorang yang mengalami stres, menunjukkan adanya kesulitan dalam penyesuaian diri. Penyesuaian diri di lembaga pemasyarakatan merupakan hal yang penting bagi seorang narapidana.Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara penyesuaian diri dengan stres pada narapidana wanita di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas II B Yogyakarta.Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik korelasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2017 kepada 67 orang narapidana wanita di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas II B Yogyakarta dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson.Hasil penelitian: Narapidana wanita yang memiliki penyesuaian diri positif sebanyak 50,7%. Sementara 49,3% narapidana lainnya, memiliki penyesuaian diri negatif. Mayoritas (80,6%) narapidana wanita memiliki stress pada kategori rendah. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan hubungan negatif antara penyesuaian diri dengan stres (r= -0,574; p value= 0,000).Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan negatif antara penyesuaian diri dengan stres pada narapidana wanita di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Perempuan Kelas II B Yogyakarta.

Stigma towards people with mental health problems will negatively affect their recovery process. At a stage of their education, nursing students will meet with people with mental disorders. It is important to analyze their view towards people with mental disorders. Objective: This research aimed to gain an overview on nursing students’ stigma towards people with mental disorders at Stikes Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta. Methods: This study was descriptive quantitative with a cross sectional method and proportionate random sampling technique, involving 81 respondents. Data were obtained through a questionnaire. Students’ stigma was viewed from several aspects including education, gender, age and ethnicity. Stigma was assessed in three categories; low, moderate and high level of stigma. Result: Result showed that within the categories, the highest prevalence was in the moderate level of stigma (96.3% or 78 people), high level of stigma accounted for 3.7% (3 people), and there was not respondent with low level of stigma. Conclusion: The majority of nursing students at Stikes Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta had moderate level of stigma. Keywords: stigma, mental disorder, nursing student

Self-quarantining is one of the coping mechanisms used during the pandemic. However, it can negatively affect the sufferer. Self-quarantine causes many students to play online games excessively. Understanding students' online game behavior during self-quarantine can help to prevent online game addiction and encourage positive self-quarantine activities. This study aims to investigate the online gaming experience during self-quarantine for university students who tested positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. Phenomenological qualitative research was used. The study’s sample consists of ten university students from Yogyakarta who tested positive for COVID-19 and played online games during self-quarantine. Purposeful sampling was utilized, and data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews. The Colaizi method was then used to analyze the data. The results indicated four themes: (1) the changes in online gaming behaviors before and after being tested positive for COVID-19; (2) the influencing factors on online gaming behavior before and during self-quarantine, (3) the impacts of parenting styles on online gaming behaviors, and (4) the impacts/consequences of online gaming behaviors. Overall, during self-quarantine, the students changed their behavior during online gaming, which was influenced by internal and external factors. They also became aware of the consequences of excessive online gaming
