Three progeny trials of nyawai (Ficus variegataBlume ABSTRAKTiga plot uji keturunan nyawai (Ficus variegata Blume) dibangun di Mangunan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Uji keturunan dikelompokkan dalam tiga sub galur berdasarkan sumber provenansinya: Lombok, Banyuwangi dan Cilacap-Pangandaran. Masing-masing sub galur dibangun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap Berkelompok menggunakan sebanyak 15-19 famili. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variasi pertumbuhan dan parameter genetik tiga sub galur uji keturunan pada umur 6 dan 12 bulan setelah penanaman. Analisis varians digunakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh famili terhadap sifat tinggi dan diameter. Selanjutnya komponen varians pada masing-masing sifat digunakan untuk menaksir nilai heritabilitas dan korelasi genetik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persen hidup sampai umur 12 bulan di atas 90% yang mengindikasikan jenis tanaman ini mampu beradaptasi dengan baik pada tapak penelitian. Famili menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata seiring dengan bertambahnya umur tanaman. Kecuali sifat diameter pada sub galur Banyuwangi, taksiran nilai heritabilitas
ABSTRAKPendugaan parameter genetik untuk sifat tinggi dan diameter nyawai (Ficus variegata Blume) dilakukan terhadap semai yang ditanam di persemaian Balai Besar Penelitian Bioteknologi dan Pemuliaan Tanaman Hutan, Yogyakarta pada umur 8 bulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan bibit dari beberapa pohon induk (famili) asal Pulau Lombok. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap Berblok (Randomized Complete Block Design) dengan 17 famili sebagai perlakuan, setiap perlakuan terdiri atas 3 ulangan dan tiap ulangan terdiri atas 10 bibit. Analisis varians menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antar famili untuk sifat tinggi dan diameter. Nilai heritabilitas famili untuk karakter tinggi adalah sebesar 0,98 dan diameter sebesar 0,91 sedangkan korelasi genetik antara sifat tinggi dan diameter adalah sebesar 0,7. Informasi ini sangat penting untuk pemuliaan genetik jenis nyawai di masa mendatang. ABSTRACTGenetic parameters were estimated for height and diameter characteristic of Ficus variegata Blume seedlings planted in the nursery of The Centre for Forest Biotechnology and Tree Improvement, Yogyakarta at 8 months of age. The trial involved seedlings from several mother trees (family) originated from Lombok Island. The trial was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) which comprised of 17 families as treatment, 3 replications and each replication comprised 10 seedlings. Analysis of varians showed that height and diameter were significantly different between families. Family heritabilities for height and diameter characteristic were 0.98 and 0.91 respectively, while genetic correlation between the two characteristics were 0.7. This information is very important for future genetic improvement of the species.
GENETIC PARAMETER ESTIMATES FOR GROWTH TRAITS IN AN EUCALYPTUS UROPHYLLA S.T. BLAKE PROGENY TEST IN TIMOR ISLAND.Genetic parameters were estimated for growth traits of Ampupu (Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake) progeny test grown in Southern Central Timor -East Nusa Tenggara Province, Timor Island. When the trial was one year old data were collected from 45 half-sib open pollinated families and assessed. There were genetic variations in height and diameter among families of E. urophylla. Growth traits had moderate heritability, both individually and in family, i.e. 0.28 and 0.55 for height and 0.41 and 0.66 for diameter, respectively. Genetic correlation between height and diameter was strong (0.96). However, the estimation of genetic parameter should be interpreted carefully since the trial was very young. Re-assessment of the trial should be carried out periodically to provide better understanding of the species regarding the dynamic of the genetic interaction between the species and its environment, effective age of selection and prediction of genetic gain.
