Abstract. The research in mini, micro and desktop factories originates from the early 90's and has continued since then by developing the technological basis and different technological building bricks and applications in the field of high-precision manufacturing and assembly of future miniaturised and micro products. This has paved the way for mini, micro and desktop factories which are seen as one potential solution for what kind of production by improving space, energy and material resource utilisation and answering to the needs of design for postponement and customer-close customisation and personalisation. This paper presents one case application for flexible micro factory. Application area is macro world assembly system in miniaturised form. Current trend in this research is the miniaturisation of macro world machines and systems towards more sustainable production technologies.
Abstract. This paper presents our work on finding an alternative for standard machine vision equipment to be used in microfactories where small working spaces raise the need for miniaturized equipment. We tested three commercially available miniaturized camera modules used, for example, in mobile phones and compared them against two standard machine vision cameras. In the tests, we compared four selected factors: camera dynamic capability, image distortions, edge sharpness, and smoothness of image brightness.
This paper presents the first photographic record of the Short-eared Owl Asio flammeus, one of the least studied species of Nepal during opportunistic survey. The new record for Bagmati River stretch on 26 November 2020 were five pairs of Asio flammeus in a grassland dominated area adjacent to agricultural land in Sarlahi district. With this record, conservation efforts in the area should include the regular monitoring and controlled human activities. Moreover, it is crucial to develop conservation awareness on the importance of owls in the ecosystem. It is also necessary to change the perception and attitude of people towards owl which are perceived as sign of evil.
The white-tailed eagle Haliaeetus albicilla is a rare winter visitor to Nepal and it has been previously recorded from Chitwan, Kathmandu, Nawalparasi, Bardiya, Sunsari and Kaski districts of Nepal. Here, we present the first-ever record of the white-tailed eagle for the Makwanpur District of Nepal. During the bird survey by line transect method, we observed a single juvenile of the species soaring over the Manahari River on 29 January 2022. Loss of habitat, illegal fishing, human disturbance, extraction of boulders, gravel, sand and water pollution were the major threats to birds observed during the survey period. In order to overcome these threats, conservation awareness programs about the importance of birds, effective law enforcement, and regular monitoring should be carried out in the study area.
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
