Resumen En todas las sociedades, el saber ha estado constituido por el conocimiento científico (académico) y otro conocimiento de vida, basado en habilidades sociales, normas éticas y valores para el comportamiento equilibrado y juicioso. Este conocimiento de vida forma parte de la característica humana más excelsa: la sabiduría, considerada una integración perfecta entre conocimiento y carácter o entre mente y virtud. En contra de la creencia popular, se ha mostrado que la inteligencia por si misma no es suficiente para que una persona obtenga sabiduría o sea exitosa en la vida, tampoco la edad o la experiencia. Sería un conjunto de inteligencia, conocimiento, experiencia y compromiso con el bien común. En este trabajo, por un lado, se estudia la concepción lega que tiene una muestra de adolescentes argentinos del significado de distintos términos teóricamente relacionados con sabiduría; y por otro, se examinan qué características considera relevantes para su yo ideal. Las percepciones medias que expresan 314 adolescentes, del grado de similitud entre distintos términos relacionados racionalmente con sabiduría, fueron sometidas a escalamiento multidi-mensional, con rotación varimax y posterior análisis de conglomerados jerárquicos. Los resultados indican, por un lado, que los adolescentes perciben las características “inteligente” y “observador” muy cercanas en significado a “sabio”; y “con sentido del humor”, “comprensivo” y “amable” más alejados de “sabio”. Además, manifiestan como cualidades relevantes de su yo ideal: “tener sentido del humor”, “inteligente” y “comprensivo”. Por otro lado, se aportan datos que muestran la influencia del contexto sociocultural en estas percepciones de los adolescentes. Finalmente, al tiempo que se expresan algunas debilidades del estudio, se apuntan también posibles líneas futuras de investigación.
Se presentan resultados de una escala de calificación sobre «sabidurfa» cumplimentada por profesores y sobre sus alumnos de ensef7anzá secundaria (N=164) en Argentina. Se presentan resultados de composición factorial y fiabilidad de la escala que aisla dos factores claros (relacionados entre slj. También se enumeran algunos problemas y limitaciones del instrumento, y se plantean posibles estudios futuros,-dirigidos al perfeccionamiento de la escala y a posibles aplicaciones de la misma.
