Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados alcançados pelo projeto "Capturando novos modelos de educação entre minorias indígenas e quilombolas no Brasil", a partir da experiência de pesquisa com a escola/comunidade indígena pataxoop Muã Mimãtxi em tempos de pandemia. A experiência ensina que iniciar qualquer projeto em uma comunidade indígena requer a presença e a coexistência como requisitos básicos. É assim que, em sua proposta original, estavam previstas as atividades do projeto. Com o início da pandemia de Covid-19, todo esse planejamento inicial teve que ser adaptado aos novos tempos. Muã Mimãtxi nos ensina pedagogias totalmente sintonizadas com os desafios impostos pelo atual colapso ecológico, consistindo em uma experiência de escola-comunidade “para adiar o fim do mundo”, para evocarmos Ailton Krenak. Esperamos, ao final, apontarmos os contornos de uma "ciência da terra" de Muã Mimãtxi.
