The theory indicates that the association between firms, particularly among spatially clustered, promotes regional development, generating both positive and negative externalities. In this sense, focusing on the positive externalities present in a clusters, this paper aims to verify the existence of positive externalities in a cluster of foundry, as well as the intensity of such externalities. To meet this goal, we used descriptive statistics through frequency analysis and crossing data. The results show that some externalities cannot provide greater competitiveness for firms in the region. However, actions can be developed to enhance the benefits provided by the cluster, attracting businesses and investments.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
