Resumo A mordida aberta anterior (MAA) é considerada uma má oclusão caracterizada pela falta de contato entre os dentes anteriores, superiores e inferiores. O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar e discutir com base na literatura os fatores etiológicos relacionados à MAA, diagnóstico e tratamento interceptador ortodôntico precoce em crianças. A intervenção precoce foi realizada em uma paciente do sexo feminino, com cinco anos de idade, com diagnóstico de MAA. Foram realizados exames intrabucais, extra bucais, odontogramas e índice de placa. Procedimentos como bandagem, moldagem, confecção do aparelho do tipo grade lingual e cimentação. Os acompanhamentos foram realizados por meio de consultas clínicas mensais e acompanhamento fotográfico. O aparelho do tipo grade lingual foi utilizado por seis meses, com redução de medidas de um milímetro de overjet e overbite. O tratamento realizado teve o intuito de restabelecer a função e a estética, oferendo melhoria em relação a auto estima da criança. Objetivo: o objetivo deste trabalho é descrever um protocolo de acompanhamento clínico, direcionado às abordagens terapêuticas usuais com o objetivo de promover qualidade de vida infantil. Métodos: com a finalidade de restituir função e estética do paciente de 3 anos de idade acometido por CPI. Nas primeiras 4 consultas foram realizadas profilaxia e aplicação tópica de verniz fluoretado conscientização do núcleo familiar sobre hábitos de higiene bucal e dieta. Resultados: Foram realizadas restaurações em resina composta nos elementos anteriores (51, 52, 61, 62) com matriz de acetato e resina composta. Nos elementos posteriores (54, 55, 64, 74, 75, 84 e 85) optou-se por realizar as restaurações com coroas de aço, pelo fato desses elementos já estarem extremamente cavitados e comprometidos. Ao longo das consultas o paciente apresentou mudança de comportamento, sendo colaborativo. Conclusão: Pode-se concluir que com a reabilitação oral houve o restabelecimento das funções mastigatórias e estéticas, como modo de promover maior qualidade de vida ao paciente
