The variations in the frequencies of some of the Raman lines of methyl and ethyl benzoates and ethyl cinnamate, in phenol and methyl alcohol, have been recorded for different concentrations. In all the three cases the C=O frequencies at 1724, 1719, and 1711 cm-1 are lowered as a result of hydrogen bond formation. This reduction is always accompanied by an increase in the frequencies assigned to the C–O link, which is adjacent to the C=O link. Besides these, variations in other frequencies are reported and explained.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
