( 13 X 65) Dans un mkmoire pr6cCdent [l], nous avons dkcrit la transforma tion, sous I'action du diazomkthane, de d6rivks du type C,H,S-CO-NH-R en isocyanates O=C=N-R par une rkaction d'klimination bimolkculaire, l'ion C,H,S-klimink &ant transform6 en thio-anisole.Nous avons pr6cisk quelques facteyrs qui conditionnent cette rkaction ; entre autres, une structure du type -CH,CONHX ou -CH,-COOC,H, du radical R fix6 sur l'azote la favorise, sans doute parce qu'elle rend possible 1'6tablissement de formes mksomhes qui ktendent la stabilisation par r6sonance a toute la mol6cule formke, par l'intermkdiaire d'une hyperconjugaison.Mais lorsque le R posskdant une de ces structures est remplac6 par un reste phknyle, c'est-8-dire lorsqu'on travaille avec la N-(phknylthio-carbony1)-aniline fI), on constate que l'attaque du diazomkthane Cvolue fort diffkremment. La quantitk de ph6nylisocyanate produite est relativement faible et celui-ci est transform6 par le diazomkthane en excits, en N-phknyl-propiolactame (111) [Z] (que nous pouvons dkceler dans le m6lange final gr2ce k son absorption a 1740 cm-1). Quant au produit principal de la rkaction, l'examen spectrographique en IR. indique qu'il pourrait s'agir d'un amide. En fait, aprks purification, nous isolons avec un rendement de 30y0 un produit qui donne 8 l'analyse des chiffres concordant avec la formule du phknylthio-acktanilide (11). Son hydrolyse chlorhydrique fournit l'acide ph6nylthio-acktique et le chlorhydrate d'aniline, et la comparaison directe de notre produit avec de l'anilide authentique prCpar6 par synthitse, confirme d6finitivement cette structure.
