Son zamanlarda yapılan araştırmalarda öğrenmenin ne düzeyde gerçekleştiğinden çok, nasıl gerçekleştiği üzerinde durulmakta ve öğrenme, öğretim, bilgi oluşturma, soyutlama, soyutlama süreci gibi kavramlar önemli bir araştırma konusu olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır (Sezgin Sezgin-Memnun & Altun, 2012). Özellikle de Hershkowitz, Schwarz ve Dreyfus tarafından 2001 yılında ortaya sürülen RBC+C soyutlama modeli, daha önce oluşturulmuş matematiksel bilginin dikey olarak düzenlemesiyle yeni bir matematiksel yapı oluşturulması aktivitesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. İlköğretim Matematik Dersi Öğretim Programı'nda (2013) oran-orantı, doğrusal ilişki, doğru ve ters orantı gibi kavramların sarmal yapıda her sınıf düzeyinde yer aldığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca orantısal akıl yürütme becerisinin ön koşulu olan oran-orantı, matematiğin diğer disiplinlerle ilişkilendirilmesine yardımcı olmaktadır (Flores, 1995). Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada, altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin doğru ve ters orantı bilgisini oluşturma süreçleri RBC+C soyutlama modeline göre incelenmiştir. Çalışmada ortaya konan bilgi oluşturma süreci, nitel araştırmada yer alan yorumlayıcı yaklaşıma dayalı öğretim deneyi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Araştırma bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören biri kız diğeri erkek, iki altıncı sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yaklaşık 50-55 dakika süren yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, RBC+C modelinin tanıma, kullanma, oluşturma ve pekiştirme bilişsel eylemleri çerçevesinde özetlenip yorumlanarak betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular öğrencilerin orantı sabiti bilgisini oluşturup kullandıklarını, ilgili problem çözümlerinde bu bilgiye yer vermeleriyle oluşturulan bilginin pekiştirildiğini ortaya koymuştur.
