In der 5. Mitteilungl) dieser Reihe haben wir mit Hilfe der Diensynthese ein Isomeres des Ostrons dargestellt. Diese Verbindung, die sich vom nsturlichen Ostron nur durch die sterische Anordnung an den Verknupfungsstellen der RingeB, C und C, D unterscheidet, ist physiologisch nicht wirksam. Es erscheint zwar moglich, auf dem Wege der Diensynthese zu anderen Stereoisomeren des Ostrons zu kommen, vielleicht auch zu Isomeren, die physiologisch aktiv sind. Aber die Wahrscheinlichkeit , dabei das naturlich vorkommende zu erhalten, ist sehr gering. Wir haben uns daher zunachst einfacheren Problemen zugewandt und haben Derivate des Cyclopentanophenanthrens dargestellt, die dem Ostron im Aufbau nahe stehen und die leichter zuganglich sind, in der Hoffnung dabei Stoffe aufzufinden, die im Allen-DoisyTest aktiv sind. Diese Hoffnung ist nicht unbegrundet, da ja bekanntlich eine ganze Reihe von Derivaten des 7-Oxyphenanthrens sich als iistrogen erwiesen haben.Zunachst wurde versucht Derivate des partiell hydrierten 7-Methoxy-phenanthrens herzustellen, die in 2-st ellung eine Acetogruppe tragen, und die also die Carbonylgruppe, die im Ostron in einen Funfring eingebaut ist, in einer offenen Kette *) Herrn Geheimrat W i e l a n d zum 66.
