Reikšminiai žodžiai: vaikai, atopinis dermatitas, emociniai sunkumai, somatizacija. Darbo tikslas.
ABSTRACTKey words: autoimmune thyroiditis, Hashimoto thyroiditis, thyroxin, thyroid stimulate hormone, thyroid gland. Autoimmune thyroid disease is the most common autoimmune condition, affecting female and male population. Its overall prevalence peaks in adulthood, but it is also the most common aetiology of acquired thyroid dysfunction in paediatrics. It is more common in females and usually occurs in early to mid-puberty. While the exact aetiology of thyroid autoimmunity is not known, it is believed to develop when a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental encounters leads to breakdown of tolerance. Optimal quantities of thyroid hormone are critical to neurodevelopment and growth. It is important to recognize thyroid dysfunction at an early stage by maintaining an appropriate index of suspicion. We present a clinical case of 12 years old girl, which was admitted to Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, Clinic of Children's Diseases with sub-febrile fever, running nose, fainting, hair loss, high malaise, apathy. Based on the life history, clinical examination, laboratory and instrumental studies were diagnosed thyroid pathology -autoimmune thyroiditis and co-morbidities. The administration of oral L-thyroxine significantly improved the patient's physical and emotional status. Teens' treatment requires extremely smooth communication and cooperation with the patient to continue the treatment, to evaluate the results achieved and, if necessary, to adjust the dose.
