O livro didático é o recurso mais utilizado em todas as escolas públicas do Brasil. E trabalho tem como finalidade analisar a contextualização da temática de solos em coleções de livros didáticos de Ciências do Ensino Fundamental II, que foram aprovados pelo Programa Nacional do Livro Didático, no período de 2020 a 2023 nas escolas públicas da cidade de Ariquemes/RO. Foram verificados os livros didáticos de três escolas, sendo os seguintes critérios analisados: temática contextualização, ilustração e terminologias. Os resultados foram analisados a partir de critérios fundamentados pelo referencial na área e contextualizados com a realidade deste ensinoe para complementar, utilizou-se a estatística multivariada através da técnica exploratória de sintetização dos dados denominada Análise de Componentes Principais. Os resultados mostram diferentes qualidade entre os livros sendo positivo ou negativo, a depender dos critérios avaliados. Houve variação nos resultados obtidos pelos livros selecionados, onde as análises quali-quantitativa do livro 1 obteve melhor abordagem do tema solos, adotado pelo Colégio I, em sequencia o livro 2, adotado pelo Colégio II e por último o livro 3 escolhido pelo Colégio III.
