This study aimed to develop a case-based design framework to analyze online us-er reviews and understanding the user preferences in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) content-related design. Another purpose was to identify the fu-ture trends of MOOC content-related design. Thus, it was an effort to achieve da-ta-driven design automation. This research extracts pairs of keywords which are later called Feature-Sentiment-Pairs (FSPs) using text mining to identify user preferences. Then the user preferences were used as features of an MOOC content-related design. An MOOC case study is used to implement the proposed framework. The online reviews are collected from www.coursera.org as the MOOC case study. The framework aims to use these large scale online review data as qualitative data and converts them into quantitative meaningful infor-mation, especially on content-related design so that the MOOC designer can de-cide better content based on the data. The framework combines the online re-views, text mining, and data analytics to reveal new information about users’ preference of MOOC content-related design. This study has applied text mining and specifically utilizes FSPs to identify user preferences in the MOOC content-related design. This framework can avoid the unwanted features on the MOOC content-related design and also speed up the identification of user preference.
This paper discusses the effectiveness of visual learning environment which is used to help students in university to study programming course. The visual learning environment which is used in this study is Greenfoot and Alice. The main goal of this article is to obtain the correlation between students‘ satisfaction level and their grades in studying programming course using visual learning environment tools. The participants were conducted on 110 students who took programming course during their first year. A survey was sent to students about their satisfaction level in learning programming course. Two-variable correlation analysis, significance test and descriptive analysis were conducted to find out the relationship between students' learning satisfaction level and their grades in programming course. This study discusses the student perspectives that are summarized in ten questions. There is a significant correlation between independent and dependent variables. The ? value is 2.09 which proves that the independent variable in the form of student's learning satisfaction level is useful to obtain better assessment of their grades. Based on their perspectives, it is found that visual learning environment tools have more significant influence in improving the students‘ grade than traditional learning method. Further research is needed to find out other impact factors. ABSTRAK: Makalah ini membincangkan keberkesanan persekitaran pembelajaran visual yang digunakan untuk membantu pelajar di universiti untuk mempelajari kursus pengaturcaraan. Persekitaran pembelajaran visual yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah Greenfoot dan Alice. Matlamat utama artikel ini adalah untuk mendapatkan korelasi antara tahap kepuasan pelajar dan gred mereka dalam mengkaji kursus pengaturcaraan menggunakan alat-alat persekitaran pembelajaran visual. Para peserta telah diadakan pada 110 orang pelajar yang mengambil kursus pengaturcaraan pada tahun pertama mereka. Satu tinjauan telah dihantar kepada pelajar tentang tahap kepuasan mereka dalam pembelajaran kursus pengaturcaraan. Analisis korelasi dua-pembolehubah, ujian penting dan analisis deskriptif telah dijalankan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tahap kepuasan belajar pelajar dan gred mereka dalam kursus pengaturcaraan. Kajian ini membincangkan perspektif pelajar yang diringkaskan dalam sepuluh soalan. Terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara pembolehubah bebas dan bergantung. Nilai ? ialah 2.09 yang membuktikan bahawa pemboleh ubah bebas dalam bentuk tahap kepuasan pembelajaran pelajar adalah berguna untuk mendapatkan penilaian yang lebih baik dari gred mereka. Berdasarkan perspektif mereka, didapati alat persekitaran pembelajaran visual mempunyai pengaruh yang lebih besar dalam meningkatkan gred pelajar daripada kaedah pembelajaran tradisional. Kajian lanjut diperlukan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor kesan yang lain.
Rapid growth of educational technology services today means that there are more applications in the market. Users may find it hard to choose the most suitable application, so they look for references. Experience shared in the form of text reviews and numerical rating can provide references. Text re-views are particularly specific and so they can provide insights to user satis-faction. In this study, we use text mining and multicriteria decision-making approach to measure the user satisfaction. The data is crawled and collected from seven educational applications: Coursera, edX, Khan Academy, LinkedIn Learning, Quipper, Socratic and Udemy. Nine attributes are used to measure the user reviews according to quality model of e-learning sys-tems. The result is in favor of Khan Academy, while Quipper is ranked the lowest. The v-values used range between 0 and1 and what is unique is that the rank of Khan Academy and Quipper are not affected by v-value while the ranks of the other applications are. It indicates that Khan Academy has high user satisfaction in terms of utility and low complaint from individuals. Quipper shows the opposite.
Background: Employees of technology companies evaluate their experience through online reviews. Online reviews of companies from employees or former employees help job seeker to find out the weaknesses and strengths of the companies. The reviews can be used as an evaluation tool for each technology company to understand their employee’s perceptions. However, most information on online reviews is not well responded since some of the detailed information of the company is missing. Objective: This study aims to generate an Aspect-based Sentiment Analysis using user review data. The review data were then extracted and classified into five aspects: work balance, culture value, career opportunities, company benefit, and management. The output of this study is the aspect score from each company.Methods: This study suggests a method to analyze online reviews from employees in detail, so it can prevent the missing of specific information. The analysis was sequentially carried out in five stages. First, user review data were crawled from Glassdoor and stored in a database. Second, the raw data were processed in the data pre-processing stage to delete the incomplete data. Third, the words other than noun keyword were eliminated using Standford POS Tagger. Fourth, the noun keywords were then classified into each aspect. Finally, the aspect score was calculated based on the aspect-based sentiment analysis.Results: Result showed that the proposed method managed to turn raw review data into five aspects based on user perception.Conclusion: The study provides information for two parties, job seeker and the company. The analysis of the review could help the job seeker to decide which company that suits his need and ability. For the companies, it can be a great assistance because they will be more aware of their strengths and weaknesses. This study could possibly also provide ratings to the companies based on the aspects that have been determined.
The welfare of the community on all fronts is one of Indonesia's national ideals. The village, as the smallest community in the state society, is often the forgotten part of the effort to achieve this. Therefore, legislation that regulates village problems is made in the hope that the welfare of the village community can be achieved. One of the things regulated in the law on villages is the BUMDes. BUMDes itself is an agency that plays an important role in improving the village economy. In this article, we will discuss the role of BUMDes as an economic driver using the Banjarworo Village case study. The research method used in this article is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, field observations, and literature studies through books, journals, and related websites. After the data was collected, data triangulation from the three data collection techniques was carried out to obtain the validity of the data used in this paper. The results obtained are that BUMDes can play an effective role in improving the economy in Banjarworo Village because they can develop MSMEs in the village by increasing branding and expanding the marketing reach of the products produced.
