Os acidentes envolvendo indústrias químicas podem apresentar um grande risco para os trabalhadores e para a comunidade, uma vez que estes são expostos ao contato direto com produtos tóxicos, podendo causar desde intoxicações leves até a morte. A análise do comportamento destes compostos durante um vazamento pode auxiliar na prevenção de possíveis acidentes, através da elaboração de planos de ação emergencial. Neste trabalho foi realizado um estudo do comportamento do gás cloro, durante um vazamento acidental, utilizando o software ALOHA 5.4.4 para a modelagem da dispersão atmosférica da nuvem durante o vazamento, o qual foi analisado estatisticamente a fim de se obter as variáveis de maior influência. Para tanto, oito fatores foram considerados, (A) Velocidade do vento, (B) Umidade relativa do ar, (C) Temperatura, (D) Dimensões do tanque, (E) Percentual do agente químico no tanque, (F) Diâmetro do orifício de vazamento, (G) Altura do orifício no tanque e (H) Condições climáticas. Com base na análise estatística foi possível verificar que as variáveis E, F e G contribuíram com o aumento no volume de substância liberada e no aumento daárea de alcance da substância. Portanto, os resultados obtidos podem auxiliar na identificação de possíveis riscos e na execução de planos de ação emergencial, estimando os cenários mais críticos durante um possível vazamento acidental de substâncias tóxicas. RESUMOMais de 100.000 corantes estão disponíveis comercialmente e mais de 7×10 5 toneladas são produzidas anualmente, com uma fração considerável sendo despejado diretamente em efluentes aquosos (KHANDEGAR; SAROHA, 2013), dentre estes se encontra o azul de metileno. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a obtenção de um material adsorvente alternativo, produzido a partir da sinterização do pinhão (sementes da Araucaria angustifolia), avaliando a influência de diferentes parâmetros de processo pela utilização de técnicas de planejamento experimental e a viabilidade de seu uso como adsorvente de baixo custo para a remoção dois contaminantes de recursos hídricos (Azul de Metileno). Sendo, que o processo apresenta melhor desempenho na Temperatura de 300 ºC, tempo de 15 minutos e massa de carvão de 8,0 g. Obteve-se um rendimento em massa de carvão de 8%, o mesmo mostrou-se eficiente, com adsorção do corante superior a 80%. ABSTRACTThere are more than 100,000 dyes commercially available and more than 7×10 5 tons of this dyes are produced annually, with a sizable fraction being dumped directly in the aqueous effluents (KHANDEGAR; SAROHA, 2013), and the methylene blue is among these dyes. The present work aims at obtaining an alternative adsorbent material, produced from the sintering of the pine nuts shells (seeds shells of Araucaria angustifolia), evaluating the influence of different process parameters through the use of experimental planning techniques and the feasibility of its use as low cost adsorbent for removing two contaminants of water resources (methylene blue). This study showed the best performance at the temperature of 300ºC, time of 15 minutes and mass of charcoal of 8.0g. It was obtained a yield of 8% of charcoal from the shells, and its application showed to be efficient, with adsorption of dye exceeding 80%. O Estudo do sistema muitas vezes se torna inviável, por exemplo, pelo número excessivo de variáveis envolvidas, que impossibilita realizar o equacionamento e os experimentos que corresponderiam às combinações que estas variáveis possam ter. A falta de planejamento na forma de abordar o problema e para estudar o processo em questão, em um contexto amplo, faz necessário planejar experimentos seguindo as etapas a seguir (PINTO; SCWAAB, 2011): a) Definir as variáveis a serem observadas e que, portanto, constituem o universo da investigação. Os acidentes de gases tóxicos como vazamentos de amônia podem expor os trabalhadores e a comunidade, provocando desde uma irritação respiratória ou até a morte. A Análise Preliminar de Risco (APR) pode ser utilizada como método para avaliar e qualificar possíveis riscos de vazamentos nas instalações de refrigeração. Esta pesquisa apresenta os resultados de uma simulação de análise de risco para um estudo de caso envolvendo instalações de refrigeração de um frigorífico. O estudo de análise de risco, como metodologia de órgãos ambientais para manutenção ou obtenção de licença de operação ambiental de estabelecimentos que produzem ou utilizam substâncias tóxicas, é um método válido para o conhecimento dos riscos e possíveis efeitos de vazamentos de gases com formação de nuvens tóxicas, como a amônia. O estudo de análise de risco teve como resultado a classificação quanto ao risco, a APR e a Análise de vulnerabilidade com a modelagem de nuvens de gás realizada pelo software ALOHA, junto à utilização de cenários de vazamentos desenvolvidos na APR. Os resultados possibilitaram respostas sobre a exposição do risco de vazamento dos trabalhadores e a comunidade circunvizinha, além do estudo de ações preventivas e de mitigação de acidentes com esse agente químico.
