This is the first study about the changing pattern of the incidence of IPD in Turkish children after the implementation of the PCV7 and PCV13 in Turkish national vaccine schedule and a prominent decrease in incidence of IPD has seen after the implementation of PCV13.
ÖZGram-pozitif bir diplokok olan Streptococcus pneumoniae bakteriyemi, sepsis ve menenjit gibi ağır seyirli enfeksiyonlar ile seyreden invazif pnömokokal hastalıklar (İPH)'ın etkenidir. S.pneumoniae ve İPH'nin tüm dünyada önemli bir hastalık yükü oluşturması, ciddi mortalite ve morbiditeler ile seyretmesi ve aşı ile önlenebilir hastalık grubunda yer alması nedeniyle, aşı çalışmalarının odağında yer almaktadır. S.pneumoniae'nın 90'dan fazla tanımlanmış serotipi varken, İPH etkeni olarak belirli serotipler saptanmaktadır. Komorbid ve kronik hastalığı olanlar, < 2 yaş veya > 65 yaş bireyler, primer ya da sekonder immün yetmezliği olanlar İPH açısından artmış risk altındadırlar. Günümüzde pnömokoklar için 23 bileşenli polisakkarit aşı ile birlikte 7, 10 ve 13 bileşenli konjuge pnömokok aşıları (KPA) mevcuttur. Serotipten bağımsız koruma sağlayacak protein bazlı aşılar ile 15 bileşenli konjuge pnömokok aşısının faz çalış-maları halen devam etmektedir. Türkiye'de Kasım 2008'de KPA-7 ve Nisan 2011'de KPA-13 ulusal aşı takviminde uygulamaya girmiştir.
