RESUMOO autismo, conhecido também como TEA (Transtorno do Espectro Autista), é um distúrbio de desenvolvimento que tem como consequência (no paciente) o déficit na comunicação oral, ou seja, isso tem como o efeito direto a dificuldade de integração social do indivíduo com a sociedade onde ele está inserido. Esse indivíduo costuma, de forma geral, apresentar padrões restritivos e repetitivos de comportamento causados pelo autismo e isso leva a uma distorção da realidade em sua mente, que por muitas vezes torna o paciente semi-incomunicável ou incomunicável com o mundo real. O objetivo deste trabalho de conclusão de curso é compreender os aspectos mais relevantes em crianças autistas e a partir de análises comportamentais padronizadas,compreender as dificuldades enfrentadas por enfermeiros na identificação desses pacientes e por consequência, criar mecanismos que proporcionem ao profissional de enfermagem a condição necessária para a realização de um melhor acolhimento intra-hospitalar para essas crianças portadores de TEA.
