Resumo: Discussão dos aspectos principais do plano amostral de uma pesquisa domiciliar, a PED -Pesquisa de Emprego e Desemprego, realizada mensalmente pela Fundação Seade e pelo Dieese desde 1985. Abordamse questões metodológicas, teóricas e práticas e as soluções para elas adotadas, bem como procura-se avaliar a contribuição da realização dessa pesquisa para o desenvolvimento da Fundação Seade. Palavras-chave: plano amostral; pesquisa domiciliar; painel rotativo.Abstract: A discussion of the principle aspects of the sampling plan of a household survey, the PED -Survey of Employment and Unemployment, conducted monthly by Fundação Seade and Dieese since 1985. Methodological, theoretical and practical issues, as well as adopted solutions, are addressed. An attempt is made to evaluate the contribution of this survey to the development of Fundação Seade.

Esse artigo apresenta uma metodologia quantitativa para a identificação de áreas intraurbanas com concentração dejovens de 12 a 29 anos em situação de vulnerabilidade à violência letal. Como exemplo, apresenta-se para o municípiode São Paulo no ano de 2006, 60 áreas consideradas como locais de extrema vulnerabilidade juvenil à violência letal e onúmero estimado de jovens ali residentes. Esses locais concentram 17% da população do município e 39% dos óbitos porhomicídios de jovens de 12 a 29 anos.
