RESUMO: É de grande importância o conhecimento dos métodos mais simples de estimativa da evapotranspiração que demandam dados de fácil obtenção e de baixo custo. O presente trabalho objetivou estimar a evapotranspiração de referência a partir de dados de temperatura máxima e mínima, utilizando a metodologia de Penman-Monteith-FAO, para o Vale do Jequitinhonha. O método utilizado para estimativa dos valores da ETo foi o de Penman-Monteith-FAO comparado com método Penman-Monteith-FAO com dados das temperaturas máxima e mínima (dados faltantes) e quatro velocidades de vento estimadas (1, 2, 3 e 4 m s-1). As estimativas de ETo, pelo método Penman-Monteith-FAO com dados faltantes, utilizandose com as velocidades de vento de 1 e 2 m s-1 , foram as que apresentaram melhores resultados, para as regiões em estudo, aproximando do método padrão.
