Dengue has enormous health impacts globally. A novel approach to decrease dengue incidence involves the introduction of Wolbachia endosymbionts that block dengue virus transmission into populations of the primary vector mosquito, Aedes aegypti. The wMel Wolbachia strain has previously been trialed in open releases of Ae. aegypti; however the wAlbB strain has been shown to maintain higher density than wMel at high larval rearing temperatures. Releases of Ae. aegypti mosquitoes carrying wAlbB were carried out in 6 diverse sites in greater Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with high endemic dengue transmission. The strain was successfully established and maintained at very high population frequency at some sites, or persisted with additional releases following fluctuations at other sites. Based on passive case monitoring, reduced human dengue incidence was observed in the release sites when compared to control sites. The wAlbB strain of Wolbachia provides a promising option as a tool for dengue control, particularly in very hot climates.
Dalam memecahkan masalah, siswa yang mengalami kecemasan belajar matematika mungkin mengalami kesalahan-kesalahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa yang mengalami kecemasan belajar matematika dalam pemecahan masalaha matematika. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang mengalami kecemasan matematika tinggi mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika sesuai langkah-langkah Polya. Namun, ia mengalami kesalahan dalam tiga hal, yaitu: (1) kesalahan penulisan simbol-simbol matematika, (2) pemaknaan model matematika, dan (3) ketidakkonsitenan dalam penggunaan simbol.
Semiotics is simply defined as the sign-using to represent a mathematical concept in a problem-solving. Semiotic reasoning of constructing concept is a process of drawing a conclusion based on object, representamen (sign), and interpretant. This paper aims to describe the phases of semiotic reasoning of elementary students in constructing the properties of a rectangle. The participants of the present qualitative study are three elementary students classified into three levels of Adversity Quotient (AQ): quitter/AQ low, champer/AQ medium, and climber/AQ high. The results show three participants identify object by observing objects around them. In creating sign stage, they made the same sign that was a rectangular image. However, in three last stages, namely interpret sign, find out properties of sign, and discover properties of a rectangle, they made different ways. The quitter found two characteristics of rectangular objects then derived it to be a rectangle’s properties. The champer found four characteristics of the objects then it was derived to be two properties of a rectangle. By contrast, Climber found six characteristics of the sign and derived all of these to be four properties of a rectangle. In addition, Climber could determine the properties of a rectangle correctly.
AbstrakDi era globalisasi, perusahaan dituntut untuk memperbaiki segala aspek yang terkait dalam perusahaan tersebut dan lebih responsif agar terus bertahan dan berkembang. Salah satu aspek yang harus menjadi perhatian lebih oleh perusahaan adalah sumber daya manusia. Oleh karena itu, sumber daya manusia pada setiap perusahaan menjadi sangat penting dan sulit untuk dikelola karena berhubungan dengan pembentuk sikap seseorang yang tentunya dapat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja sumber daya manusia tersebut terhadap performansi perusahaan.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja karyawan pada Deekey Shoes Garage. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dan metode verifikatif. Sampel penelitian yaitu seluruh karyawan Deekey Shoes Garage yaitu berjumlah 80 orang.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan mempunyai pengaruh positif dan signifikan 5% terhadap kinerja karyawan, dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 69% dimana kinerja karyawan dipengaruhi olah gaya kepemimpinan. Sementara sisanya 31% dipengaruhi oleh variabel-variabel lain di luar variabel yang diteliti misalnya variabel individu (Kemampuan dan keterampinan, latar belakang pribadi dan demografis), variabel organisasi (Sumber daya, imbala, struktur dan desainpekerjaan) dan atau variabel psikologis (Persepsi, sikap, kepribadian, belajar dan motivasi).
