ABSTRACT:Field experiments were conducted during 1998 and 1999 rainy seasons at the Dry Land Teaching and Research Farm of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, to study the response of roselle to farmyard manure, nitrogen and their interaction on the growth and yield of roselle. Treatment consisted of factorial combination of four rates of farmyard manure (0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 t/ha) and four levels of nitrogen fertiliser (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg N/ha) laid out in a randomized complete block design replicated three times. The result showed that there was significant response to applied manure and N-fertiliser on number of leaves up to 5 t/ha manure and 50 kg N/ha. There was no significant increase in calyx yield by raising manure rate from 2.5-7.5 /ha or nitrogen rate from 50 to 75 kg N/ha. Thus, 2.5 t/ha manure and 50 kg N/ha were considered adequate for calyx production in roselle in Sokoto Semi-arid Tropics. However, for maximum number of vegetable leaves additional manure (5-7.5 t/ha) and N fertilizer (50-75 kg N/ha) may be necessary.
The purpose of this study is to ascertain how student learning outcomes and emotional and spiritual intelligence are related. The quantitative approach with correlational study is the methodology employed. Techniques for gathering data in the form of surveys with questionnaires and measures of learning outcomes in the form of midterm exams (PTS). Assessing students' emotional and spiritual intelligence is done using questionnaires. This study used a simple random sampling method to select 106 students as its sample. The study's findings indicate a favorable correlation between emotional intelligence and student learning outcomes, a favorable correlation between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence, and a favorable correlation between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence and student learning outcomes.
The problem of education is not a new problem in the world of education in Indonesia. Based on the problem of education is also faced by Islamic educational institutions. This attention cannot be separated from the historical roots of Islamic educational institutions that gave rise to madrasas and schools. In line with the demands of the times, Islamic educational institutions also developed. The problems that arise are both in the form of internal and external factors. Internal factors, for example, are related to the curriculum, educators, education participants and others, while external factors are social factors (society), government and related parties. In terms of measuring the level of success, strengths and weaknesses in strategic management, a SWOT analysis is one of the alternatives used in analyzing educational management. In this study, it deliberately used qualitative research methods. Educational institutions as public organizations need professional management, need to do analysis and consider the possibilities that will be faced in the organization. The concept of strategic management is used in education to further streamline existing resources in order to achieve educational goals by using the SWOT analysis technique.
Experiment was carried out to compare the susceptibility of Capsicum annuum and Capsicum frutescens on sale to fungal infection at Sharada and Rimi markets in Kano metropolitan area. A total of four fungal species were isolated from samples of C. annuum and C. frutescens collected from the two markets. Out of the colonies isolated, the most abundant colony was A. niger (84, 39.25%). This was followed by R. stolonifer (71, 33.17%) and A. fumigatus (37, 17.28). The least occurring colony was A. flavus (22, 10.28). The difference between the four species was statistically significant at P < 0.001. On the basis of location, more colonies were isolated from samples collected from Sharada market (126, 58.87%) than Rimi market (88, 41.12%). The results indicate that hot or sweet features have no influence on the fungal infection of the sample from the two locations. More isolates were counted on Mondays (133, 62.1%) while 81 (37.9%) were counted on Thursdays. The differences between Mondays and Thursdays exposure was statistically significant at P<0.05.
