Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) is a pelagic fish which is generally found in tropical waters. Research on fishery resource sustainability by applying bioeconomic and length weight assessments is necessary to be done in order to determine status of longtail tuna. This research was conducted in south part of Java Sea namely Indramayu waters West Java from January 2020 to April 2020 which aims to estimate utilization status of longtail tuna (T. tonggol) namely exploitation rate, Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), Total Allowable Catch (TAC), Maximum Economic Yield (MEY), and Open Access (OA), and to determine length and weight relationship. The research used quantitative descriptive method based on catch and effort data from 2010 to 2019 as well as length weight primary data as much as 987 fish. Result showed that catch and effort at MSY level was 8,453 tons/year and 2,974 trips/year respectively with value of TAC as much as 6,762 ton/year. While the estimated values of catch and effort at MEY level was 8,168 tons/year and 2,427 trips/year with optimum profit as much as 88.98 billion Indonesia dollar rupiah (IDR). Another analysis indicated that OA level was achieved when effort reached at 4,855 trips/year and whilst exploitation rate was 93%. Meanwhile length weight relationship analysis showed that fish had a balance length weight growth which b value = 3.039 with equation W = 0.0147L3.0393. In conclusion, the fish has an isometric length weight relationship and the utilization status of fish is in fully exploited condition hence additional fishing effort must be prohibited in order to maintain stock sustainability.
The development of fishing and marine tourism requires the support of naval architecture, especially in small boat. The use of wood as the main material for shipbuilding has recently become a problem considering the decreasing availability of wood, while the use of fiber is classified as less environmentally friendly because it uses chemical resin and difficult to repair when it breaks and cannot be recycled. The aim of this research is to design the High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) boat. The design was carried out by using naval architect design software. The stability of boat was calculated by using three loading conditions such as when leaving the port, in the sea and when returning to the port. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) safety criteria was using to evaluation of boat stability where the three loading conditions have met the IMO standard. The construction of HDPE boat was carried out by using DNV rules.
Kata Kunci: kesediaan membayar, jasa wisata, wisata alam, POKMASWAS Willingness-To-Pay To Omah Iwak Badher Bank Tourism DestinationABSTRACT Omah Iwak Badher Bank is one of the tourist destinations in Blitar Regency which is managed by POKMASWAS Fajar Bengawan. A reviewer search on google.co.id found a total of 77 reviewers with an average rating of 4.5. This study aimed to assess the destination rating of selected respondents, are undergraduate and doctoral students of the UB’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science Malang. The total respondents were 46 students, 33 were S1 students and 13 were S3 students. Both groups of respondents received the same opportunity to visit tourist destinations. Rating and assessment of destinations was done by giving 12 types of questions to each respondent. The results found that the average rating of undergraduate student respondents was 3.7±0.57, and 3.7±0.48 for S3 students, respectively. These were lower than that of public assessment (4.5). This indivated that the quality of destination that are of concern to students is higher than the public. Willingness-t-pay of undergraduate students (Rp. 150,000 Trip-1) at tourist destinations was relatifly lower compared to doctoral students (Rp. 250,000 Trip-1). As a new tourist destination, Omah Iwak Badher Bank needs to improve its services to improve the quality of the destination. Keywords: willingness-to-pay, tourism services, nature tourism, POKMASWAS
Fish produced sound from internal organs and air bubbles caused by the friction of fish bodies with the surrounding water. The sounds are used to interact with each other, and the sound produced is stronger when gathered during eating. The study aimed to develop a sound-fish aggregating device (S-FAD) and produce an artificial fish sound with suitable frequency for several fish species. The study used analytical descriptive and experimental fishing, which divided into two steps, (1) S-FAD tool construction using a descriptive method to explain every step in the construction of tool and consideration in the use of supporting tools, and (2) effectiveness testing step using an experimental fishing method to see the horde pattern (behavior) and the target strength using an echosounder. The sound wave aids trial was carried out on a lift net from morning to noon. Data retrieval by recording the fish-finder screen was carried out for 1 minute before and after the sound wave device was put into the water. The S-FAD test was done 60 times and hauling lift net in every multiple of 4 trials. The results showed that the average fish that approached and came together before and after the S-FAD installation was 2.18 ± 0.98 and 2.79 ± 0.71 fish. The highest number of caught fish when hauling at lift net with four times repetition was 79 fish from 7 types, including Selaroides leptolepis, Stolephorus sp., Sphyraenidae sp., Scatophagus argus, Mugil sp., Portunus pelagicus, and Loligo sp.
Fish is an important commodity with high economic value, and is a source of protein with affordable prices and abundant quantities. Proteins from fresh fish are essential nutrients for growth and as constituents of the cells. Yet, fish is one of the most perishable foods due to its composition. Many efforts have been done to maintain the freshness of fish. This research was aimed to improve fish handling in fishing vessel by inventing a refrigerator cooling system with an LPG fuel generator as a power source. The use of LPG was based on the availability of natural gas that is still abundant, environmentally friendly and cheaper than fuel. The calculation of refrigeration heat load was carried out by applying the formula that is available in heat transfer theory. Since the refrigeration heat load obtained was 1,533 Watt for all fish storage of fishing vessel, then the type and capacity of generator was easily determined. Application of LPG-fuel generator for refrigeration use in fishing vessel was economically competitive with 22.75% lower operating costs. Finally, re-arrangement was carried out by adjusting layout of fishing vessel for application of LPG-fuel generators to operate refrigerator.
