Twenty Zaraibi goat bucks were used in this experiment which lasted 3 months during summer season of Egypt. The animals were divided randomly into two equal groups. The first group was kept without treatment as control while in the second group, rumen-protected choline (RPC) at the level of 20 g/buck/day was added to the concentrate feed mixture at the morning feeding. RPC additives to diet of Zaraibi goat bucks during the period of hot summer season increased (P < 0.01) total gain and average daily gain compared to the control group. RPC increased (P < 0.05) dry matter intake and feed conversion while water intake was not affected by RPC additives. RPC increased (P < 0.05) red and white blood cell (RBC × 10, WBC × 10) counts and hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit percentage. RPC increased total protein (P < 0.05), globulin, and γ-globulin (P < 0.01). On the other hand, total lipids, total cholesterol, and triglyceride concentrations decreased (P < 0.05 and P < 0.05) while phospholipids, glucose, and choline concentrations increased (P < 0.01) due to RPC supplementation. RPC increased (P < 0.01) thyroxin and triiodothyronine, increased (P < 0.05) testosterone levels, and decreased (P < 0.01) cortisol level compared with control bucks. It is concluded that dietary RPC at the rate of 20 g daily is required for growing male goats, especially, under heat stress conditions of summer season in Egypt and showed the best results concerning the growth, feed conversion, blood metabolites, and economic efficiency.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of thermal stress on milk production and physiological traits of Baladi goats under subtropical Egyptian conditions. Sixty dairy Baladi goats were exposed to three different levels of temperature-humidity index (THI), including low (less than 70), moderate (over 70 and up to 80), and high levels (over 80). The influence of THI on the milk composition and physiological, hematological, and biochemical traits was investigated. Rectal temperature and respiration rate were significantly greater at the higher THI than at low and moderate THI (p = 0.016 and 0.002, respectively). Baladi goats had decreased daily milk yield in a rate of 27.3 and 19.3 % at high THI level, compared with low and moderate THI, respectively (p = 0.031). On the contrary, no significant differences have been reported in protein, fat, and total solids percentages at different THI levels. Total leucocyte count, serum glucose, and total protein were significantly reduced at high THI in comparison with low and moderate THI levels (p = 0.043, 0.001, and 0.001, respectively). However, dairy goats maintained relatively stable estimates for erythrocytes count, hemoglobin, serum triglycerides, cholesterol, catalase, total antioxidant capacity, and triiodothyronine at different THI levels. Our results indicate that dairy Baladi goats can tolerate THI levels up to 80; however, variable reduction in milk yield and few biochemical (serum total protein and glucose) and hematological (leucocytes count) parameters have been reported at a THI level higher than 80.

Effective nutrient medium is the key factor that significantly influences the specific growth rate and the final concentration of microalgae. The main objective of this study was to optimize the microalgal growth in mass culture system under the effect of soil extract in modified Bolds Basal medium. Chlorella vulgaris was grown aseptically for 10 days at five different concentrations of soil extract (10, 20, 30, 40, 50ml/L) at 25°C cultivation temperature. After 10 days of cultivation, Chlorella vulgaris showed maximum cell concentration of 5x107/ml at 30ml/L of soil extract concentration which corresponds to the maximum specific growth rate 1.56μd-1 with the doubling rate of 2.25d-1   andlipid yield of 22.74 % of dry weight.________________________________________GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

This research aims to check the impact of climatic variability of the THI index during the three main seasons of the year in Egypt on growth traits and biochemical blood components in native bovine calves. Eighteen Egyptian bovine calves after weaning were used in this study. The experimental design included three experimental groups according to the year's seasons. In the 1st group, sex calves were rearing under winter conditions. In the 2nd group, sex calves were kept during the spring season. In the 3rd group, sex calves were maintained during the summer season. Weekly and monthly Temperature-humidity index (THI) was calculated for the three seasons. The daily body gain (DBG) the feed intake (DMI), and water consumption (WC) were measured weekly for each calf. The highest THI value (85.5) during summer resulted in a significant (P<0.01) decrease in DBG, daily DMI, thyroid hormonal levels, total proteins, and glucose and a significant (P<0.01) increase in daily WC and levels of cortisol and urea. The rate of decline increases with increasing THI values from low THI in winter (68.1) to moderate THI during spring (74.9) and high THI (85.5) during the summer season. With increasing THI, the depression in DBG was more than the decline in daily DMI; therefore, food conversion increases when the value of THI increases. THI has highly (P<0.01) significant negative correlations with DBG, DMI, thyroxin (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), total proteins, and glucose and has highly significant (P<0.01) positive correlations with water intake as well as cortisol and urea concentrations.
