O Programa Segundo Tempo (PST) é um programa do Governo Federal que busca democratizar o acesso à prática do esporte, por meio da parceria com as Secretarias de Esporte e Lazer. Entende-se que por meio da prática esportiva, os sujeitos têm a possibilidade de compreender melhor seu corpo, suas limitações e potencialidades, entre outros aspectos. Além disso, o esporte pode conduzir as crianças e adolescentes para um caminho longe das drogas. Nesta perspectiva, este estudo identificou o risco para o uso de drogas ilícitas nos alunos praticantes do PST da cidade de João Pessoa/PB por meio do perfil socioeconômico e de caráter familiar. Sessenta e dois adolescentes, com idade entre 12 e 16 anos, matriculados no PST, responderam a um questionário sobre informações pessoais, socioeconômicas e culturais, além de perguntas objetivas relacionadas ao tema do estudo. Foi verificado um maior percentual do uso de drogas ilícitas entre os adolescentes com pais divorciados (56,5%). Observou-se uma associação entre o uso de drogas com o tempo livre, com o parente que reside com o adolescente e com o estado civil dos pais. Em adição, ficou caracterizada uma tendência linear de associação entre o o uso de drogas e a renda familiar dos alunos/escolaridade da mãe. Foi possível constatar que a prática de esportes é a atividade que ocupa o maior tempo livre destes adolescentes. Neste caso, é preciso ater-se à importância do diálogo dentro dos projetos sociais, podendo ser um meio eficaz aliada a prática esportiva. Portanto, é necessário um trabalho multidisciplinar com professores de educação física, assistentes sociais e psicólogos, para que, de forma conjunta, elaborem estratégias de intervenção com intuito de proporcionar uma melhor qualidade de vida a esses adolescentes.
