O estudo objetiva compreender aspectos do percurso de desenvolvimento do jogo de papéis em crianças com autismo, tendo por eixo principal o movimento. Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo estudo de caso, que enfoca o jogo protagonizado de três crianças com autismo, durante atividades lúdicas em uma brinquedoteca universitária. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram a observação participante, videogravação das sessões e registros em diário de campo. O estudo realizado indica percursos singulares no desenvolvimento do jogo de papéis na brincadeira dessas crianças, seguindo uma direção que parte de interesses e movimentos restritos e ausência de linguagem verbal; percorre um caminho de ampliação e diferenciação do movimento, com presença de vocalizações associadas a funções psíquicas mais elaboradas; e tem como ponto de chegada um processo articulado de delineamento de gestos, linguagem verbal e jogo de papéis.
