Atualmente os polímeros veem sendo muito utilizados pela sociedade, e isto leva a uma grande preocupação ambiental devido a sua elevada resistência a degradação. O polietileno verde por ser um polímero obtido de fonte renovável e o farelo de soja por ser também de origem vegetal e abundante no Brasil foram os materiais de estudo neste trabalho. Os compósitos de PEAD e farelo de soja foram produzidos por extrusão nas proporções de 10, 20 e 30% em peso de farelo e depois prensados para obtenção de filmes. Para caracterização foram realizadas análises mecânica, térmica e morfológica, através do ensaio de tração, DSC e microscopia ótica. Para o estudo da biodegradação as amostras foram submetidas ao solo simulado, durante 30, 60 e 90 dias, com controle de pH, umidade e temperatura, sendo analisado a perda de massa das amostras com o tempo de degradação. As amostras com maior teor de carga na mistura atingiram melhores resultados de perda de massa. As propriedades térmicas, como a cristalinidade, variaram com o período de exposição e porcentagem de carga. No ensaio de tração, observou-se uma diminuição na resistência à tração com o aumento de massa de farelo. A biodegradação foi observada nas micrografias das amostras pela presença de espaços vazios, decorrentes da ação de microrganismos na porção onde estavam presentes o farelo de soja.
