Toplumun özel gereksinimli bireylere bakış açısı, ebeveynlerin yetersizlik algısı, yetersizlik durumundan kaynaklanan problemler vb. nedenler ebeveynlerin, günlük yaşamlarını sürdürmelerinde ve sosyal hayata uyumlarında bazı güçlüklerle karşı karşıya kalmalarına neden olmaktadır. Ebeveynler içerisinde geleneksel anlayışa göre en çok çocukların bakımından anne ya da annelik rolünü üstlenen kişi sorumlu olmakta ve bu güçlüklerle en çok anneler yüzleşmektedir. Yetersizliğin derecesi ve türü arttıkça yaşanan güçlüklerin artacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı çoklu yetersizliğe sahip çocukları olan annelerin ev ortamında, okul ortamında, sosyal hayatlarında, sağlık alanlarında ve problem davranışlardan kaynaklı yaşadıkları güçlükleri ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmaya Bolu ilinde ikamet eden 6-12 yaş arasında çoklu yetersizlik tanısı olan çocuğa sahip 10 anne katılmıştır. Veriler, görüşme yöntemleri içerisinden yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonunda çoklu yetersizliğe sahip çocuğu olan anneler ev ortamında, okul ortamında, arkadaşları ile derslerinde ve ev ödevleri ile ilgili güçlükler yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Çoklu yetersizliğe sahip çocuğu olan annelerin sosyal hayatta çevredeki bireylerin davranışları ve konuşmalarından, çocuklarının davranışlarından kaynaklı (problem davranışlarından), akrabalarının davranışlarından ve arkadaş-çevresinin olmamasından kaynaklı güçlükler yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Çoklu yetersizliğe sahip çocuğu olan annelerin ayrıca çocuklarının sağlık problemleri ile ilgili olarak güçlükler yaşadıkları ve sürekli hastaneye gitmek durumunda kaldıkları tespit edilmiştir.
