Com o objetivo de se ampliar o conhecimento sobre a ocorrência do parasitismo por Plasmodium (Novyella) juxtanucleare Versiani e Gomes, 1941, em aves da espécie Gallus gal/us L. 1758 no estado de Minas Gerais, realizou-se um levantamento de prevalência no município de Santa Bárbara do Tugúrio (21 2 15'12"S, 43 2 27'16"W). Foram examinados esfregaços sangüíneos, corados pelo Giemsa e observados em microscopia fotônica em imersão, de 30 aves mestiças, adultas, de criação rústica, mantidas extensivamente, com peso médio de 2, 18kg ± 0,34, sendo 29 fêmeas. As formas eritrocitárias foram registradas e quantificadas pela observação de 50 campos microscópicos assinalando-se o número de eritrócitos parasitados. A prevalência foi de 100% e a intensidade média de 7,93 parasitos por lâmina nos campos examinados. Observaram-se em 33,3% dos esfregaços de um a cinco parasitos, 40% de seis a 1 O e 26,6% acima de 1 O. Não foram observados casos de poliparasitismo.
Este trabalho visou avaliar a ocorrência de formas infectantes de parasites de humanos e/ou com potencial zoonótico em amostras de solo obtidas em ruas e áreas peridomiciliarcs do bairro Jardim Casablanca, município de Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. De junho a novembro de 1996, o exame de 24 amostras de solo de 13 pontos do bairro revelou ovos de helmintos c oocistos nos seguintes percentuais de ocorrência em relação aos locais de amostragem:
Os animais de laboratório são adequados e necessários para o desenvolvimento de estudos biológicos, tornando indispensável os cuidados com as condições sanitárias. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a eficiência da vermifugação como barreira sanitária utilizada no Biotério do Instituto Metropolitano de Ensino Superior apor meio de análise parasitológica das fezes e definir o padrão de sanidade dos animais de experimentação. Foi realizada uma análise de 23 amostras de fezes dos ratos do Biotério, da espécie Rattus novergicus, anterior e posteriormente à administração do medicamento Ivermectina comercial. As fezes foram processadas através da técnica de sedimentação por centrifugação e analisadas com microscópio de luz. O processo de vermifugação ocorreu em duas etapas, com intervalo de 15 dias, no intuito de melhorar a eficácia do tratamento. Antes da vermifugação foi encontrado o protozoário Entamoeba muris em apenas uma amostra (4,34%), sendo esta espécie considerada um micro-organismo não patogênico. Uma nova análise, 15 dias após a vermifugação, constatou a ausência de qualquer espécie de parasito. O protocolo de vermifugação utilizado foi considerado eficiente, entretanto ainda faz-se necessário a manutenção e o aprimoramento das medidas de controle que previnam o aumento da contaminação por parasitos e, consequentemente, a interferência nos resultados dos procedimentos experimentais.
Introdução: as parasitoses intestinais são um problema de saúde pública caracterizadas por quadros debilitantes de diarreia e desnutrição.Objetivos: descrever a prevalência de parasitos intestinais, bem como investigar os hábitos de higiene individual e os aspectos higiênico-sanitários na comunidade rural do Ipaneminha – Ipatinga, MG.Métodos: O presente trabalho é descritivo e transversal. Por meio de questionários, foram obtidos dados sociodemográficos, e fatores de risco de contaminação parasitária. Para análise das fezes utilizou-se o método de sedimentação espontânea.O teste do c2 foi utilizado na análise dos dados e os infectados foram medicados. Resultados: analisaram-se amostras de 146 participantes, sendo 61,6% (90) do gênero feminino, 67,1% (98) adultos e32,9% (48) crianças. A média das idades foi de 35,53 anos (dp=23,4). A prevalência de enteroparasitos foi de 22,6% (33), sendo 16 crianças e 17 adultos. Entamoebahistolytica foi o parasito mais prevalente (8,2%). O cruzamento dos dados pelo teste do c2 de Pearson (5% de significância) permitiu levantar hipóteses sobre os fatores que predispõem a contaminação dos participantes, dentre eles: falta de filtro de água (p=0,01); ser criança (p= 0,03); ter contato com areia do córrego (p=0,017), ter fossa rudimentar para destinação de esgoto sanitário (p= 0,02), apresentar fossa com problemas (p= 0,03), e por fim, o hábito de não lavar frutas antes de comer (p=0,04). Demais fatores investigados não mostraram associação estatística com as parasitoses. Todos os parasitados foram medicados. Conclusão: os resultados obtidos revelaram importante correlação entre os hábitos de higiene pessoal e a contaminação por parasitos intestinais.
