Introdução: A praticidade da educação a distância facilitou a entrada de milhões de pessoas na escola. Com o advento das formas de comunicação por meios tecnológicos, passou a existir a possibilidade da educação se estender para além dos livros físicos e aulas presenciais, permitindo um alcance cada vez maior de indivíduos interessados em estudar ou aprofundar estudos. O ensino a distancia rompeu parte da barreira da desigualdade, e teve seu surgimento necessário para fomentar o cumprimento do direito básico de qualquer cidadão ao estudo, aproximando aqueles que antes possuíam parcas perspectivas de futuro, por terem que se deslocar quilômetros para acessarem uma instituição. Objetivo: Analisar a contribuição do ensino virtualizado à perspectiva educacional. Material e métodos: O trabalho foi baseado em pesquisas bibliográficas com caráter discursivo, objetivando averiguar os benefícios do ensino a distancia, e se este se mostra frutífero e eficiente. Resultados: Percebeu-se que o ensino virtualizado ainda carece de avanços para expandir as possibilidades de ensino e oportunidades de aprendizagem, apesar dessa modalidade já constituir grande avanço no desenvolvimento educacional da população. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o ensino a distância se faz frutífero, por promover maior alcance de indivíduos interessados em estudar, além de promover novas possibilidades às instituições de ensino. Contudo, os interesses individuais devem ser considerados, sendo necessário implementar medidas que promovam a interação social dos indivíduos, enquanto alunos.
