Wahrend unsere Kenntnisse iiber die Electricitatsleitung in Metallen noch derartig unsicher sind, dass bekanntlich noch heutzutage gilnzlich verschiedenartige Anschauungen nebeneinander Platz haben, ist in neuerer Zeit ein bis ins einzelne gehender Einblick in die entsprechenden Vorgange bei electrolytischen Leitern moglich geworden. Diesen Portschritt verdankt man in erster Linie den Untersuehungen von F. K o h l r a u s c h iiber das Leitungsvermiigen wiisseriger LGsungen in Verbindung mit den Hi ttorf'schen Bestimmungen der Uebei fuhrungszahlen der Ionen. Danach lasst sich, wie F. Kohlrausch') gezeigt hat, sowohl die absolute Geschwindigkeit der Ionen in eincm bestimmten Strome berechnen, als auch ihre Beweglichkeit, d. h. die Geschwindigkeit, welche ein g Ion in wasseriger Losung unter Einwirkung der mechanischen Kraft 1 besitzt, wobei nur vorausgesetzt ist, dass die Leitung der Electricitat gar nicht durch das Wasser, sondern allein durch die nach dem P a r a d a y 'schen Geset,z mit constanten Ladungen wandernden Ionen, und zwar durch alle gleichmassig , besorgt wird.
