Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar nossa visão, na condição de docente, sobre o ensino de inglês instrumental na Amazônia Paraense, desenvolvido por meio de curso de curta duração no interior do estado do Pará, bem como a visão dos estudantes que concluíram o curso. Para tanto, parte-se dos princípios teórico-metodológicos em que o projeto inicial do curso foi concebido e da sua descrição para a discussão das ações realizadas. A demanda por cursos de leitura em língua inglesa é alta na região do Baixo Amazonas, uma vez que há poucas instituições disponíveis para ofertar esse tipo de curso gratuitamente à comunidade e as condições de frequência presencial são geograficamente complexas. Nesse sentido, propusemos, por meio do IFPA, um curso de inglês instrumental on-line com duração de 40 horas para a comunidade, considerando o contexto de distanciamento social causado pela pandemia de coronavírus. Para o desenvolvimento desta investigação, realizamos recorte teórico da literatura dos últimos cinco anos sobre inglês instrumental no Brasil, de modo que fosse possível traçar um alinhamento teórico tanto na concepção do curso como na escrita deste texto, além da contextualização da oferta do curso. Desse modo, decidimos utilizar a metodologia qualitativa, na modalidade de pesquisa bibliográfica. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que os conteúdos do curso são relevantes para os estudantes, mas a carga horária foi insuficiente para uma aprendizagem mais aprofundada. Ao final da pesquisa, foi evidenciado que o formato do curso atende eficazmente o público desejado, considerando os recursos, os conteúdos e os métodos.
